I purchased what was supposed to be an R9 270X(product title on amazon). I double checked with the seller that it was a 270X and not a 270 before purchasing because in the picture it showed 270 on the sticker and I wasn't sure if it was 270 or 270 series. They insisted it was a 270X. I got the product today and installed it, and I suspect I was sold a R9 270.

However, the description lists a clock speed of 1050 MHz, and the Core Clock of 925MHz listed in the Radeon Settings and the CPU-Z stats is, from what I have read online, what the R9 270 has, not the 270X. This is my main concern, as I purchased this card to crossfire with my XFX R9 270X @ 1050MHz. The cards are not crossfired at this time. Could the information in Radeon Settings and CPU-Z be wrong? Was the description of the product wrong? Did they make a 270X with 925 MHz? Can't find any product info for the reference card on AMD's site. Or is this just a R9 270?

I'm not really sure who to contact about this product to verify it's legitimacy as a 270X, so I'm asking here. Hopefully you all can help me determine if I got a lower quality product than what I was promised. Thanks everyone.

What does the gpuz lookup function show.

GPU-Z lookup shows the card as a "AMD Radeon HD 8860", which I'm guessing was before they rebranded the card. So, it doesn't show whether it's a 270 or 270x.

Thanks for the info from devicehunt.com. Never heard of that site before. Is that usually pretty accurate? Do you think it's talking about "series" or just a flat out 270?

To me, it's looking like it's a 270. I've initiated a return with the seller on Amazon. It's very upsetting that I went through all this only to find out it was a dud purchase and not even worth my time. I'll be leaving negative seller feedback for the false representation and the false answer when asked directly if it was a 270x. All goes well, I'll get all my money back though(thanks Amazon policies).

I think this is happening a lot because there's a lot of sales out there on the same identical looking card advertised as a 270x, so I wouldn't be surprised if there are others getting ripped off.

I also found a AMD how to identify article, but it only showed manufacturer, and as I knew it was AMD (not XFX, etc.), that particular page didn't help me much.

Legit sellers don't list the card as

AMD Radeon R9 270 X 2GB GDDR5 SDRAM PCI Express Video Graphics Card

Looks like a play on words..."Oh, we meant it's a R9 270 with (X) 2GB memory.

Return it and find a seller that sells a R9 270X. (And spells it that way)

As I said already, I've begun the return process, but thanks for the recommendation anyway.

Also, it's not a play on words because I sent them a message before purchasing, and they specifically said it was a 270X, and not a 270. Even if that wasn't the case, as a seller, you can't claim that the X didn't mean X because you put a space before it, as there's nothing else it could mean. Moot point though.

Looks like a reference R9 270.

the reference AMD Radeon R9 270 Non-X uses a 925 MHz clock.

Thanks, kingfish. What's really interesting is that it looks EXACTLY like all of the pictures of a R9 270X. Had it looked like the pic you posted of a R9 270, it would have been much more obvious. Do you think AMD is making R9 270's that look like the X? Or do you think people are modifying them to look like the X maliciously to rip people off?
