Ill just admit to it, Nvidia's 3000 series cards have better ray tracing performance compared to AMD 6000 series cards, and I just dont understand how AMD is still selling these things. Of course AMD has its advantages, but IMO there nothing major to justify not getting a 3080, 3080ti, or a 3090.
I'm not saying AMD gpus are bad, or that you should avoid them, I'm just comparing the performance of the two companies and asking why people buy one or the other. What is your reason on getting an AMD card over an Nvidia card?
I play on a 1440p 165hz monitor so if anyone has any reasons why people buy AMD that relate to your monitor resolution let me know.
Here's a link to Daniel Owen's last video on which graphics cards to buy at various price points:

It's not a list of why to buy just AMD. It's a list of the best GPUs to buy that give his reasons for the choices. Most of his choices are for AMD cards.
That video is from 20 August 2023. I assume he'll have a new version out in a week or two. But, hopefully, it'll answer your question.
NVidia turned the topic of GPUs all around ray-tracing. When I look at screenshots and do comparisons, much like getting glasses, I cannot really tell a difference or one the makes it consistently better. Yet, every GPU review spends way too much time around this one benchmark.
Since I do not care about ray-tracing, the value and performance is clearly for AMD. Also, NVidia was clearly better at driver stability. I have a 3080 that just has too many strange issues like desktop flickering that simply do not happen with 7900 xtx. But AMD also has their driver issues.
It's basically even, but I hate nvidia more right now because they are so anti-consumer and this 3080 is flaky. Maybe after a year of AMD, I will be back to "never again AMD". With AMD, stick with the driver that works and only update if you really need to.
A good reason?
Never had a serious deal breaking issue with ATi/AMD cards. They have earned my trust while nVidia has not.
They perform and deliver the way I want.
I don't know .. Price maybe? .. don't produce as bad of transient spikes (If you want to compare 3000 nvidia with 6000 AMD)
I'm not saying buying Nvidia is a dumb choice or anything .. I'm just comparing price to performance is all
