Whatsapp desktop hates AMD gpu's

Just trying to search thru gifs makes whatsapp desktop flash until it blacks out, i think the app uses vulkan as well which is odd for an app that just meant for chat and video calls

I too have this issue since i upgraded my GPU from nvidia to AMD RX 6700 XT.
OS: Windows 10 home x64 22H2
Driver: AMD Adrenaline 22.11.2
Have had this issue for over a year with all driver versions and all OS updates since then. Meta might be doing something weird in their desktop app, but it only results in visual glitches and driver resets on AMD cards.

Hey, I recently switched to AMD graphics card and I'm having exact same issue, just wanted to ask if you somehow manage to fix the issue? I'm using AMD RX 5700XT, before that I was using GTX 1080Ti.

Hi there! It sounds like the issue is related to AMD GPUs not fully supporting certain rendering features used by WhatsApp Desktop, particularly when it comes to Vulkan or similar technologies. Unfortunately, this is a known issue with some AMD cards that can cause glitches or crashes when browsing GIFs or using video calls. To resolve it, try disabling hardware acceleration in WhatsApp Desktop's settings, or ensure your AMD drivers are up-to-date. If this doesn’t fix it, switching to WhatsApp Web might be a temporary workaround since it’s more stable across various hardware setups. Let me know if you need further help!
