Warcraft 2 (GOG) is lagging

In the wave of the news about the remaster of Warcraft 1 and 2, I decided to go to the GOG version of the game, but it lags terribly even in the menu, and there's nothing to say about the game, it's just not playable, it also stopped running with MSI Afterburner, it just closes if I turn on the program during the game or before the game starts, has anyone encountered this problem, how to solve it?

I started the game in the original (the second button in the menu) and it froze the system (did not allow me to look at other applications), after restarting the game worked fine, but only in this mode

I just tried it, and it's working for me. I had to slow things down even. I am running with afterburner too. Before launching it, it looks like you can pick different graphics options. It defaults to desktop and app preferences. I did not bother trying classic version.
