Unable to install Adrenalin 2020 20.7.1 at all on Windows 10 64bit 19.09 latest update.
I am running DDU Version 18.0.2.6.
(1). I am unable to install Adrenalin 2020 20.7.1 at all on Windows 10 64bit 19.09 latest update.
(2). A DDU setting is affecting Adrenalin Install behaviour I see.
I run DDU in Windows 10 safe mode to remove all traces of AMD or Nvidia drivers.
I have tried running Factory Reset install Option.
In one setting (DDU setting A) the Adrenalin installers black screen before install completes.
The PC then freezes, it sounds like USB bus / keyboard is getting disconnected.
I end up having to Soft Reset the PC.
I am unable to log into Windows again on reboot into Windows normal mode.
I have to perform 3 soft resets to boot into safe mode, then I can log in to Windows in safe mode and run DDU to remove failed AMD Driver install.
DDU setting A
===========
(Note: PC connected to Internet via Ethernet Cable in first attempt but also tested completely disconnected from Internet ).
With another DDU setting ( (DDU setting B) ) the install completes then causes very sluggish mouse behaviour on desktop and crashes the PC with an atikmdag BSOD.
DDU setting B
===========
(Note: PC completely disconnected from internet during entire install attempt).
(3). I have been able to install this, after much effort - Adrenalin 19.12.1 GUI/UI + 20.7.1 driver.

I downloaded and installed the new AMD Bug Reporting Tool.
Brilliant.
The AMD Reporting tool is reporting that I have Adrenalin 19.12.1 driver installed and will only let me report a BUG for 19.12.1.
I actually have Adrenalin 19.12.1 GUI/UI and 20.7.1 driver installed.
I am unable to install 20.7.1 driver - that is what I am trying to report.
Congratulations AMD, I am unable to file a report on a driver that will not install.
For what it is worth - the bug report will probably get ignored because it is submitted as Adrenalin 2019 19.12.1 and not 20.7.1.
In addition my PC is currently runnig at 4.3GHz and 3200MHz so they will probably not believe me that I set CPU speed to 3.7GHz and Ram to 2133MHz.
I included a link to this thread.
I should now file a Bug report on the AMD Bug reporting tool inability to detect the correct installed driver version or provide user option to override it.

Looking at the release notes:

I think that this driver is still suppposed to install on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit 19.09.
Did anyone in AMD test it?
Or was the installer only tested on Windows 10 Version 2004?
I am unable to install that version yet:
Bug rerport for Bug Reporting tool...
20.7.1 works fine on windows 10 v 2004. if the driver does not install it may be time to reset windows
There is nothing at all wrong with the Windows installation.
Latest Nvidia GeForce Experience and Nvidia Control Panel drivers install fine on it.
There is something wrong with AMD Driver Software.
As usual.

My old B350M with a Ryzen 3000G on it does not gripe over drivers with a clean install of windows v 2004
same on my x470 with a R5 2400G and a RX 480 parked on it
So maybe something wrong with the installer on 19.09 build like I stated.
However others also report unable to install Adrenalin Drivers 19.09 or 2004.
Something is broken somewhere.

I will stick to a magled windows setup
I have to also rant on BIOS updates as well.
RE: I will stick to a magled windows setup
That does not make sense.
Why can Nvidia driver and GeForce Experince install O.K. yet AMD installer fails on the same PC and build?
The BIOS has not been updated, I am using the latest one for the Motherboard.

The BIOS has not been updated, I am using the latest one for the Motherboard.
MSI has been posting beta after beta BIOS updates for all of my motherboards, every one of them seems to fix one headache or another.
Asus does pretty much the same, but smaller players are slower to come up with fixes
I do not use GFE on my RTX 2080, most team green also do not use it.
There is no opt out not to send System and User Data.
This is not OK.
I will not be reporting bugs in future using this bug reporting tool.
The method to report bugs on the web needs to be re-introduced.

I agree, hard to use the bug reporting when your box BSODs all day long
using the ipad and a browser can at least report it
Looking at this application note:
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/amdbrt
The AMD Bug Report Tool is a standalone utility designed to allow AMD application users to report bugs directly to AMD.
When sending a bug report, the tool automatically captures necessary system software/hardware configuration details, eliminating the need for manual input.
---> BUT NO OPT OUT IF USER DOES NOT WANT TO SEND THE DATA!!!
---> Is that even legally OK?
The tool also provides the option for attaching supporting files such as screenshots and pictures, this collection of information can help us better understand and investigate the reported issue.
The AMD Bug Report Tool supports Windows® 10 64-bit systems based on the AMD Ryzen™ platform or equipped with AMD Radeon™ graphics.
NOTE! Only reports submitted on the latest version of AMD applications or driver will be reviewed. Therefore, it is recommended to install the latest version of the AMD application or driver for your AMD product and verify that the issue still exists before submitting your issue using the AMD Bug Report Tool.
---> IF the BUG Reporting tool incorrectly detects the Drivers as 19.12.1 when you actually have 20.7.1 installed, your report is ignored!!!
---> IF Adrenalin 2020 20.7.1 will not install at all then I cannot report it.
Programmers are supposed to think logically.
Who thought this up?
If your bug reporting tool cannot even report bugs properly it does not leave much hope.
OK - You can still report bugs online.
Right at the bottom of this:
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/amdbrt
It says:
Alternatively, if you would like to use the existing survey form to report a bug with Radeon Software, please select your platform:
In AMD, no one can hear you scream.
I submitted an AMD Reporting form regarding the install problems the old way - using the online submission form.
I also filed an AMD Bug Report online about the Bug Reporting Tool...
Oh for goodness sake - another Driver:
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-20-7-2
I think that drivers from 20.5.1 and later are designed for an operating system with wddm 2.7 support
It says nothing about NOT supporting Windows 10 19.09.
Many users cannot or do not want to update to Windows 10 2004.
"Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.7.2 is designed to support the following Microsoft® Windows® platforms. Operating System support may vary depending on your specific AMD Radeon product.
I am able to install this:
It is Hybrid Adrenalin 2019 19.12.1 GUI/UI + Adrenalin 2020 20.7.2 drivers.
All indications are there is something broken in that Adrenalin 2020 GUI/UI.
