Tetris Effect Fatal Error

Hi, we've received number of claims that the recent AMD driver 19.12.2/19.12.3 crashes the Tetris Effect with a fatal error at launch. The error log shows it is crashing at atidxx64.dll. Reverting to 19.12.1 work without any issues but don't want to direct players to rollback their drivers in case it affects other games. Does anyone know if there's a fix for this?

I have the same issue and I can provide mine,
XFX RX 580 8gb

Ryzen 7 2700
Version 19.12.3
Updating to the 2020 adrenaline broke the game and on launch I have the message "The UE4-TetrisEffect Game has crashed and will ..." followed by "Fatal error!".

Hope this helps.

Here are some of the reported AMD GPUs by our players:

ATI Radeon RX 580 Series

Radeon RX 5700 XT

Radeon RX Vega 56

This happens regardless of whether they have Intel or AMD CPUs. We've found that they all have AMD GPUs (no one on Nvidia reported this) and they are all on 19.12.2 or 19.12.3. Rolling their driver back to 19.12.1 works for them.

Bug is still present in 20.1.1 released Thursday 9 January 2020.

Find below a side-load fix to avoid having to downgrade drivers, so you can continue to run 20.1.1 while fixing UE4 games like Tetris Effect:

Prerequisite: Install 7-zip

  1. Go to https://www.amd.com/en/support/previous-drivers/graphics/radeon-500-series/radeon-rx-500-series/rade...
  2. Download Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.12.1 Optional from Windows 10 - 64-Bit Edition, https://drivers.amd.com/drivers/beta/win10-radeon-software-adrenalin-2019-edition-19.12.1-dec2.exe
  3. In Explorer, navigate to the download location.
  4. Right click win10-radeon-software-adrenalin-2019-edition-19.12.1-dec2.exe and select 7-zip -> Open Archive
  5. In 7-zip, Navigate to \Packages\Drivers\Display\WT6A_INF\B349181\
  6. Find atidxx64.dll and extract it somewhere (e.g. desktop)
  7. In Explorer navigate to the Tetris Effect installation directory, (e.g. Epic Games Install Location)
  8. Navigate to TetrisEffect\TetrisEffect\Binaries\Win64\
  9. Move atidxx64.dll to this directory.  The directory should now contain TetrisEffect-Win64-Shipping.exe and atidxx64.dll

Enjoy.

Once fixed by AMD, simply delete the 19.12.1 version of atidxx64.dll from TetrisEffect\TetrisEffect\Binaries\Win64\

Hi  neoaeon‌ and xameryn

Seems like driver 20.1.2 has fixed the issue.

Release notes here:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-20-1-2

Fixed Issues

Some UE4 based titles such as KovaaK 2.0: The Meta™, Tetris Effect™ and Snooker 19™ may fail to launch with Adrenalin 2020 edition software.
