Hello,

this is an Distribution problem. Debian seems to have out of date linux-firmware package(s).

Please report a bug about to Debian peoples.

To quick fix that yo can get linux-firmware source and copy the missing firmware

files to /lib/firmware/amdgpu

Hey man

Here's my story

I also have RX 580 (I have pc). I had this gpu going nuts for no real reason under Debian 9 (Stretch) - random black screen + gpu cooler goes to 100% (by sound)

I've decided to use backport for firmware-amd-graphics, kernel-image-amd64 and libdrm-amdgpu1 (not sure what it is but why not..) and got those missing files in dmesg on reboot.

So, if your story is kinda same, abucodonosor is correct as I've fixed this issue by copying those files from repo

1. go to amdgpu - kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git - Repository of firmware blobs for use with the Linu...  (click plain)

2. copy those 5 missing files to /lib/firmware/amdgpu

3. reboot

4. profit

But still I don't get why I see my RX580 as RX470/480 and using polaris10 driver. On WinOS it picks correct GPU name.

Also I don't understand why AMD don't support Debian. Ubuntu is based on Debian and ton of users use Debian because it is more stable and such!

yes , it is show RX470/RX480  not RX580    , and i checked /lib/firmware/amdgpu , there are polaris11 ,and polaris12 ,but why it can't be load , just load polaris 10  instead .  ?
