I wanted to update my driver, but 17.7.1 is so far the latest for this GPU, i checked for other more powerful new ones and new updates are all available for them. Does this mean AMD no longer supports drivers above 17.7.1?

Go here to AMD Support: Download Drivers​ and input the data. I used Desktop and Windows 10 x64, Since you didn't post your computer specs, and found driver from 1/18/2018 to download.

AMD didn't finish the support, the Adrenalin Edition 17.12.1 is compatible whit your r7 260x.

Still using win8.1 ?, then nope, no newer drivers for that OS.

Some suggest the win7 drivers work with it ?
