Problem With The Latest Amdgpu-Install For RHEL-8.7, 9.1, & OpenSUSE Leap 15.4

Hi!

I am witnessing problems with the latest release AMDGPU-INSTALL version 5.4.50401-1518338.el8 for RHEL-8.7, RHEL-9.1, and OpenSUSE Leap 15.4 Linux Distros for the AMD Radeon RX 470 GPUs. After installing the amdgpu-install program, when executing the following command line to install specific drivers, the "Error: Failed to download metadata for repo 'amdgpu-proprietary': Cannot download repomd.xml: Cannot download repodata/repomd.xml:"

amdgpu-install --usecase=workstation --vulkan=pro --accept-eula

This problem seems to be with the amd repository online, the proprietary path of the repository is missing. Has anyone else noticed this issue?

Hi,

I have replied to the older post about this by mistake, but I have found a solution to this issue that you can read here:

It seems like all the latest amdgpu-install version 5.4.x updates have a problem with their repository being incomplete for some reason.

Hi David,

That is indeed the case. It works for 5.4.1. however. One can verify by going to https://repo.radeon.com/amdgpu/5.4.1/ubuntu/pool/proprietary/v/ or https://repo.radeon.com/amdgpu/5.4.1/ubuntu/pool/main/v/. Both those links contain the vulkan packages. They do not in 5.3.3, 5.4, 5.4.2. So installing 5.4.1 is your best bet at this point.

Obligatory sneer: AMD please, for the love of god, get your act together.

Thank you for your suggestion. However, I am using RHEL 8.7 to 9.1 and SLE 15.3 and 15.4, which the 5.4.1 amdgpu repositories are complete, except for SLE 15.3. The 5.4.1 amdgpu repository for SLE 15.3 is truncated at: /amdgpu/5.4.1/sle/15.3/proprietary/x86_64/...

Will this issue be corrected in the near future?

Thanks!

Hi Marcel!

After downloading and installing the amdgpu version 5.4.1 for RHEL, SLE, and Ubuntu distributions I notice a problem with this driver release, which doesn't allow to adjust the screen resolution or other settings. However, I found the amdgpu release 22.20 to be the last version that works correctly with the Radeon RX 470 graphics card, yet all the amdgpu-install routines are mixed up on your website for some reason. Who ever is the administrator of the amdgpu software releases needs to take time to be organize because they mixed everything up and nothing works correctly. The amdgpu-install version 22.20 for SLE 15.4 is really for SLE 15.3 and doesn't select the repositories for SLE 15.4 on the https://repo.radeon.com website.

Will this issue be corrected in the near future?

Thank you!
