OpenGL game and apps not working anymore (24.10.1)
I've been having some issues with OpenGL applications for some months now. The problems started when I updated my Adrenaline drivers back in June/July and it's still an issue in 24.10.1.
First thing I noticed back then was that MAME stopped working in fullscreen when using OpenGL (the app runs, but the screen goes completely black until I switch it to windowed mode), so I had to change its API to Direct3D. PCSX2 also doesn't work in OpenGL any longer.
Then, yesterday, I found out I also couldn't run a game called BLUE REVOLVER on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/439490/BLUE_REVOLVER/) anymore. It doesn't even open, displaying an error message that it was unable to create an OpenGL window, as shown by the image bellow. The game uses LÖVE as its framework.
I played the game earlier this year and it was working fine back then.
Here's my setup:
- Windows 11 Pro 23H2 22631.4460 (up to date);
- GPU Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB;
- CPU AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF;
- 2x RAM XPG Gammix D30 8GB 3200MHz DDR4 CL16;
- Motherboard ASRock B450M Steel Legend;
- PSU Cooler Master MWE 500w Bronze;

I'm having the same issue! Tried to play multiple games on Steam, including Planetary Annihilation: Titans, only for it to spit out that this graphics driver version does not support OpenGL 3.2.
I'm running on a RX 6800 XT with driver 24.10.1

Same here. There's quite a lot of us with the same issue.
Noone from AMD here seems to know how to fix it.
I have to revert to old patches, but then on those old patches, I cant play new games - so it's back and forth.
Starting to become a dealbreaker. Might just go back to Nvidia. Less hastle

Has a factory reset / DDU / ACU install impacted this outcome with 24.10.1 in any way?
If not, can you folks give me an idea of which graphics settings/overrides you have enabled in Adrenalin (if any)?
I.e. Chill, Boost, RSR, EnhancedSync, OGL triple buffering etc.
In addition, can you use glCapsViewer (https://opengl.gpuinfo.org/download.php), save all of the OpenGL info it gathers to XML, and send that over to us?
Cheers,

I'll try a factory reset on 24.10.1 when I get home and get back to you.
No settings for me. The last suggestion I got from a staffer to use the clean up utility deleted all those settings for me.
I dont see a button to attach xml files and I cant copy/paste because the forum's posts cant exceed 35,000 characters. How should I send this file?

One user on another thread provided a link via Google Drive. Perhaps a pastebin would work, or an ephemeral link via https://send.vis.ee/

24.5.1 driver should work, I and other users have been having problems with OpenGL games since 24.6.1 driver.
I've been checking every driver release since if it gets fixed. For now we're stuck with 24.5.1.
THREAD that we post in about it.

I have this same issue. Blue Revolver didn't work for me on 24.5.1.
I went back to 22.5.2 for it to function properly.

(I'll try to share this to the other relevant posts)
For now, we're suspecting that the OpenGL UMDs are not properly installing on impacted systems.
To help us verify, could you folks please share an INF log following a driver install of 24.6.1 or newer?
After installing the driver package, you should be able to find the log file over at:
C:\Windows\INF\setupapi.dev.log
Bear in mind that older INF logs have datestamps prepended to the file names like so:
Some of these may pertain to prior Adrenalin installations.

Here's my setupapi.log.dev from today, after installing 24.12.1. I confirmed that the launch issue I have with Blue Revolver persists (error validating pixel shader code).

I know this might sound stupid, but are you running your main monitor using DisplayPort? Try connecting your monitor using HDMI port and then launching the game.

It works when only my HDMI monitor is connected! Strange!
Glad that there's a way to get it working, but I would prefer to use my higher refresh rate monitor. It's a start though!

Could you please share the Display Settings like in the screenshot attached?
How many displays are you using? Could you please provide the models + screen resolution + cable type (DisplayPort or HDMI or sth else)?
Could you please try run the game with only one display physically connected to the GPU?
Could you please try different cable type used (DisplayPort / HDMI)?

Here are the display specs. I'm using two monitors. VG279QM (via DisplayPort) and a BENQ XL241 (via HDMI) and both at 1080p.
I get the same "error validating pixel shader code" in Blue Revolver if just my primary monitor is connected or using different cords.

@KaizaCorp
So, does the game work at any combination?
How about using only 2nd with either HDMI or Display Port.

Yes, it will only work using HDMI on my lower resfresh rate monitor. Crashes when using DisplayPort on the primary monitor.

Turning OFF Overclock Mode for my monitor using DisplayPort (going from 280Hz to 240Hz) allows Blue Revolver to run properly on the latest AMD drivers!

Can confirm turning OFF Overclock Mode on TUF Gaming VG279QM fixes everything, but you cant use 280hz anymore. Wonder why Overclock Mode 280hz works with 24.5.1 drivers or older.
