my r9 290 is reporting to Steam VR it is a r9 200 series

I'm using the 21.5.1 -  The card is a Sapphire r9 290 oc tri-x card , but Steam VR won't accept it since, with this driver, it is reporting as a r9 series 200.

Thats not unusual....most all graphics card readers will generalize that way. It doesn't mean it is not recognized. In fact it shows it is recognized.

There is a newer driver version > https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/amd-radeon-r9-series/amd-radeon-r9-200-series/amd-radeon-r9-...
