I need the latest bios for WX 7100, that one dev doesn't seem to be online for days now.

Thank you

fsadough‌ might be able to find you a newer BIOS for your Professional GPU card.

I sent him an email, but he hasn't been online since the 29th of July. Maybe he will be online soon, thanks.

I just bought this card, it works great, full load on gaming is around 84. But in most demanding games, it goes up to 95c, i read 95 is the limit, because it doesn't seem to go higher than that. At 95c, games work perfectly fine, no crashes, or anything. I would think the WX 7100 would have a better cooling system, i know my WX 4100 i use to use, at full load on demanding games would hit up to 80c.

Hey,

I’m new in this forum.

From what I can see, this thread is where I maybe can get the newest bios for my recently acquired WX7100. And maybe answers or ideas to why I’ve experienced issues. I hope so.

I acquired the WX7100 intended for usage (passthrough) in a Proxmox VM. But first I wanted to try it with just Windows 11 (23H2). Maybe foolish, but that’s what I thought.

My new RX6950 (what a great gpu) and the used WX7100 got working at the same time.

It started well, but then I had some weird issues (hanging, restart). Reinstalled Adrenaline. Got the same. Tried the pro version but received error with that one too. Something was wrong.

It was time to reset and go back to what was working at the beginning. Just using the 6950. Used DDU and reinstalled latest Adrenaline. Now I’ve got a stable system again.

But before trying again (round 3 or 4?): I wondered what caused the issues.

Was it the wx7100 itself, it’s bios or the Adrenaline driver (maybe incompatible with WX7100 even if it doesn’t seem to be the case looking at release notes) that was the reason behind the instability? Or… Was it the motherboard that didn’t have power to handle the 7100? I double checked PCI lanes and power supply and I should be fine and have a lot of spare.

I’ve been thinking about how to proceed. Maybe I need to go with another RX card and forget the WX?

Anyway, I went to the source. This forum and saw this old thread and maybe you guys are still around?

I hope so.

Sorry for the long intro, but I think one has to understand the situation in order to come with advice or help.

My questions:

1. If possible I’d like to upgrade the WX7100 Bios to the latest version since I don’t know if the one on the card is okay or has been tampered with… Nice to know that I’m on solid ground so the speak.  Can I get that version somehow?

2. Is it wide knowledge (but new to me) that a RX and a WX together is a big no-no, or that it require the sequence of just having the 7100 installed, get the Pro drivers, and then install the 6950? Or something else?
I admit that this is my first time trying to use 2 gpu’s that aren’t SLI (back in the day and now forgotten by most).

As you can see I’m grasping for a straw here.

I hope a bios of latest version will make my 7100 as good as it can get and then try to get both cards running again. But sure, I have also thought that maybe I was asking to much to get 2 different cards working in Windows 11 since I intended to use the 7100 with Proxmox.

Anyway, I hope you guys can help me out.

Oh, I saved a text and can provide what kind of memory my card has. I just don’t have it on my Pad.

Thanks for reading. Looking forward to get a reply.

Cheers!

AMD Moderator of Pro GPU cards can help with your question: @fsadough

Send an AMDZ Report so I can identify the GPU and VBIOS version.

AMDZ Report
- Please extract the amdz-v342.zip available from https://we.tl/t-kdcJOVO0jz
- Run amdz.exe file as an Administrator
- Select Save All and TXT as the output format
- Click on the blue button to save the report
- The .txt file will be saved in the same folder where you extracted the zipped file

Thanks for extremely fast reply.

Wilco. I will reconnect the card and get the info you require/ask for.
I will be back after my birthday event this weekend.

I gotta ask, since you want info about the card(s) - does that mean that latest Adrenaline is OK to drive both cards? It’s nice to clear out some thoughts of what might be troubling.

Okay, I will be back and I’m really great full for such a quick response and how to get you the required information.

Thanks again.

HP Z420. No fans, just the onboard computer fan set at level 3. my computer does not have any extra fans, what i mean is, i don't think i can add any extra fans.. 95c is the limit and it only does that in certain games, guess its fine. Also its hot in my home, i have to keep it warm because atm i have cancer. can't keep it too cool. But overall the card is working fine. I was just playing Battlefield hardline, temps goes up to 83c at full load. ain't bad.

There may be a rear fan that can be installed if one is not already present. Case does not look like it has any thermal management at all.

My old Cooler Master HAF 932 cost a lot to have large fans pre-installed etc. It is so good it can handle a bank of video cards easily.

Open the side panel and look for a rear exhaust fan near the CPU.

No extra way to install external fans. Its cool though, the card runs just fine. For the most part the temps are doing fine, just some games at 95c.

On another note, I'm looking into buying a W5500 Radeon Pro Soon, just waiting for a price drop, no way I'm spending 400 bucks on it lol.

The HP Z430 machine is not a machine I would consider workstation quality.

You might want to do a DIY project with a new chassis and build from there.

Some salvage might be possible but I would get a new high quality PSU at least.
