How to 18.20.10

I can't figure out how to install "AMD all in 1 with VGA driver ver:18.10.20_NHDA"

  1. According to an ASRock support email I'm suppose to install the above drivers before upgrading from 5.00 BIOS on ASRock MB - AB350 Pro4 to 5.40 Bios then from 5.40 Bios up to L8.02 Bios.
  2. This process is supposed to be the solution for upgrading from old A12 APU to new Ryzen 5600X CPU on the AB350 Pro4 motherboard.

Looking at the supported CPU list on the AB350 Pro4 product page, it only lists as high as Ryzen 3000 series.

Ryzen 7 7800X3D, ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI, G.SKILL TRIDENT Z NEO 2x16GB DDR5 DRAM 6000MT/s CL30, AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX, LIAN LI EDGE 1300, Corsair MP600 PRO NH 4TB

Here is the reply I got from ASRock when I asked them about the 5600X:

  1. Yes, the board support the type of processor 5600G , but you can not update your motherboard BIOs if you have installed A12 CPU , will not allowed you to do it.

To update your BIOS you need a newer CPU model  like 3400G or 3600X

To update from the BIOs 5.00 you have , you need to do two steps .

Update your BIOS to 5.40  first and then you can update to L8.02

    Bios download link

    How to update

    https://www.asrock.com/support/BIOSIG.asp?cat=BIOS10

  2. Thus, having seen their support person reference the 5600G I simply assumed the 5600X would be just as accommodating.
  3. Am I thinking correctly or incorrectly? I'm open for constructive correction.

I haven't personally reached out to ASrock, however I have had other boards like the MSI B350I Pro AC, and it did support Ryzen 5000, provided you update to the latest BIOS for that specific board.

If ASrock states that it is compatible with the 5600G, I would contact them to make sure the 5600x that you plan to install is also compatible.

The link is from the product page on the ASrock site, and it only shows up to the 3rd Gen Ryzen chips, so I personally would invest in another board, and keep that one as a backup in the case that something happened to my main rig.

I do understand many people don't have the 100 to 150 dollars to get a whole new platform going, but that is what I would do. Let me @BigAl01 He may know more than I do about that board.
