Hello - I'm trying to install the latest drivers for my FirePro W7000. I've downloaded 'win10-radeon-pro-software-enterprise-21q1.2.exe', the recommended installer for Win10 64bit. When I execute the installation, a translucent white window appears, disappears and then I get the following error thee times:
"Failed to create OpenGL conext for format QSurfaceFormation(version 2.0, options OFlags<QSurfaceFormat=FormatOption>0, depthBufferSize 24, redBufferSize -1, greenBufferSize -1, blueBufferSize -1, alphaBufferSize -1, StencilBufferSize 8, samples -1, swapBehavior QSurfaceFormat::DoubleBuffer, swapInterval 1, colorSpace QSurfaceFormat::DefaultColorSpace, profile QSurfaceForamt::NoProfile).
This is most likely caused by not having the necessary graphics drivers installed.
Install a driver providing OpenGL 2.0 or higher, or, if this is not possible, make sure the ANGLE Open GL ES 2.0 emulation libraries (libEGL.dll, libGLESv2.dll and d3dcompiler_*.dll) are available in the application executable's directory or ina location listed in PATH."
My setup is:
AMD FirePro W7000 installed in a Razer Core X box connected by Thunderbolt to a Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 8
Win10 64-bit 21H1 Version; Version 10.0.19043 Build 19043; all latest updates installed - critical, optional, other
Driver version installed: 15.200.1045.0 (from Lenovo's auto-installer)
Display 1: Integrated laptop screen; Display 2: Asus MZ27AQ 2560x1440 @60Hz Displayport; Acer ET322QK C 3840x2160 @60Hz Displayport
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10710U CPU @ 1.10GHz 1.61 GHz
Motherboard: 20R1S05A0 (lenovo standard for this product)
BIOS Version/Date LENOVO N2QET40W(1.34 ), 4/15/2021
PowerSupply: N/A
SystemMemory: 16GB
I have installed GPU-Z and confirmed that for both the integrated graphics card (Intel UHD Graphics GPU CometLakeGT2) and the AMD FirePro W7000 have the 'OpenGL 4.5' box checked at the bottom.
I would very much like to update the driver for my FirePro to the latest version, but cannot seem to pass through this step, nor find a way around installing the entire suite of AMD Enterprise software (which I probably don't need).
Thank you for your help!!

Den Report brauche ich ja nicht mehr. Die W7000 ist so wieso nicht unterstützt.
All - I was able to fix this issue, and thought I would share my experience for anyone else who might have issues similar to mine.
I think the issues I was having were a result of too many display adapters. In my setup, I have a Lenovo Pro USB-C/A dock which shows in Device Manager as a display adapter, a laptop with integrated Intel display adapter, and the AMD FirePro W7000 as a display adapter.
When I disabled the dock as a display adapter, this corrected 99% of my rendering issues with Microsoft Teams. However, it wasn't a perfect fix, so I still wanted to have the W7000 driver update.
I tested installing the AMD software when the eGPU was not plugged in and was able to get past the translucent window I saw before to a new screen where it attempted to detect an appropriate GPU. It failed at that step to recognize that I had an AMD GPU - makes sense because it was unplugged at the time. So, I tried it again with the eGPU unplugged and then as soon as I saw the screen that said 'looking for an AMD GPU', I plugged it in. This seems to have worked as it then detected the FirePro W7000 and completed 97.2% of the installation.
It did then hang at 97.2% of installation for ~72 hours (over the weekend) at which point, I rebooted, and all seems to be working again. MS Teams is now rock-solid in rendering icons and text.
The only remaining issue is that if, for any reason, the AMD W7000 'stops' - either I pull the USB-c plug, there's a power flicker, or I turn the eGPU enclosure off, it crashes Win10, I get a bluescreen report and it reboots. I am surprised that it doesn't more seamlessly transition from using the eGPU to not using the eGPU, but fortunately, this only happens pretty rarely (1x/week or so), and I'm willing to put up with the inconvenience for the overall increase in performance - especially in the context where I'm using an eGPU that is not supported by the eGPU enclosure.

Hi all,
Just checking in on this thread as this seems like a strange issue to encounter, that I'd like to resolve, but don't really know where to start. Is there any additional information that I can provide for you to give me some leads on fixing this? Or perhaps I just need to accept the fact that my W7000 will not ever be updated to the latest driver?
AMD does have a new Moderator that is a specialist with AMD Professional GPU Cards like yours. Hopefully he sees this thread and responds.
Were you able to update the AMD driver in the past or is it just with the latest versions?
Hello elstaci,
Thanks for asking. I've never been able to install or update AMD drivers manually. When I first connected the device, win10 did identify an appropriate (although old) driver from the Lenovo driver database and installed that one. It works, OK, but I do have strange rendering issues in Teams that I am hoping a newer driver will correct - e.g. parts of all text are missing.. and not consistent parts (as far as I can tell). It is hard to describe, but it looks like the letters are cut off - sometimes from the top, sometimes from the side. When I move the mouse over the messed up text, that will often fix the issue. If I zoom in/out will also fix it. All of the fixes are temporary, and the text reverts to garbled shape within a few minutes.
Thanks for the update. I will tag the Moderator that specializes in Professional GPU card hopefully next week he will assist you with your issue, @fsadough
Can you send me the AMDZ-Report from your system?
AMDZ Report
- Please extract the amdz-v295.zip available from https://we.tl/t-d5oHIlTQZL
- Run amdz.exe file as an Administrator
- Select “Save All“ and “TXT“ as the output format
- Click on the blue button to save the report
- The .txt file will be saved in the same folder where you extracted the zipped file
Unfortunately the file link has expired.
I'm a little paranoid about installing software on my computer that requires admin access. Can you tell me a bit about what the AMDZ-Report tool is and who developed it? Is there a link to a website where I could learn more about it?
Finally, please re-share a link for me to download it.

The selected solution did not work for me as I don't have additional display adapters.
What I have done to correctly install the latest drivers was to run this command in the decompressed folder:
./setup.exe -INSTALL -boot
After reboot you can run the installer and the software will install without error.
Good luck.
come hai eseguito il comando?
where you ran the command???????????????????????
I suspect you're supposed to download the latest drivers, extract them to C:/AMD, navigate to the directory via a shell, and then run it from there.
I tried this, as I also didn't have additional display drivers; it didn't work for me. Setup didn't launch on startup/reboot. (It might be because I DIDN'T run them in an Administrative shell; now that I think about it, maybe I should have tried that. Oh well.)
For ME what worked, was going to Windows Update, hitting "Check for updates", then clicking the link to "View optional updates", and then finding in there an intermediate display driver (in my case it found one from 2018) and installing that from Windows Update. That got me to the point where I was then able to run Setup.exe (just normally via Windows) and it DIDN'T have the Open GL errors mentioned in the original post.
Created a stupid AMD Community account here just to post this. Hope it helps someone.
I just noticed you are using the FirePro W7000 in an eGPU box. The older generation of AMD Workstations GPUs are not supported with eGPUs. Only Radeon Pro series.
