Changing Graphics Memory Size to Resolve AFMF2 Driver Crashes on 780M

Problem like Black Screen on AFMF 2 Preview Driver (24.20.11.01)

I used to have the same problem, and after some attempts, I found a solution. The core of the issue lies in a conflict between the new driver with AFMF2 functionality and the default graphics memory settings of the APU:

  1. If you haven't installed the AFMF2-enabled driver (e.g., version 24.7.1), set the Memory Optimizer option under the Tuning settings in the Performance tab of AMD Software to Gaming. After restarting, install the latest AFMF2-enabled driver. Make sure not to perform a clean installation or use DDU, as this will reset the Memory Optimizer settings and cause the new driver to crash.

  2. You can also change the UMA Buffer Size through your BIOS settings, which has the same effect as adjusting the Memory Optimizer option mentioned above. Adjust this setting based on your device's BIOS options to avoid crashes with the new driver. If, unfortunately, your device's BIOS lacks this option, you can completely uninstall the new driver and install an older version, following the steps in method 1 to resolve the issue. Alternatively, use UMAF  to unlock advanced options in the BIOS and adjust the UMA Buffer Size (note that this method may cause damage to your BIOS and is not recommended. However, if you've already installed the new driver and accidentally reset your BIOS settings, causing the issue to reappear, this method allows you to resolve it without uninstalling the driver—simply changing the BIOS settings should suffice).

I hope my experience helps you!
