What is C:\.cache\AMD\DxcCache folder what does Windows not allow to delete and what does not appear even if the machine is started with Linux Ubuntu from a usb stick?
That is the shader cache folder. It's where all the shaders for the different apps/games are kept. The reason it is hidden is because it is a protected operating system folder. I highly advise you leave this folder alone. You CAN clear the shader cache through either Adrenalin or with windows.
To do it with windows open settings. Click system > Storage > Temporary files > make sure the box labeled "DirectX Shader cache" is the only box checked (see below)
Then click the "remove files" button.
I did this. However, the files in the folder were not deleted. The folder appeared for the first time on November 5. Before that, the folder never existed. I have not installed new games and the system was installed last year. I even reinstalled the AMD drivers, but the folder with the files remains. System is Windows 11 24h2.
Ok I see the confusion. There are actually TWO shader cache folders.
(1) The Windows Shader cache folder located at
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\D3DSCache
and
(2) The AMD shader cache folder located at
C:\.cache\AMD\DxcCache
The difference between the two The first one is the hidden operating system file I spoke of. Deleting the contents of that folder should be done the way I described it in my previous post.
The second one is the AMD shader cache folder. It is not hidden by windows. It is cleared by opening adrenalin selecting gaming > graphics > scrolling to the bottom and clicking "Perform reset" under the category named "Reset Shader Cache" (see below)
Now as to whether this folder existed before or not I cannot say as I honestly never looked and have no way of testing this. I can hazard a guess that this may be a result of 24H2's security changes and AMD is seeking to still control some of it's shader cache.
Also I no longer run Ubuntu on any system so I cannot test why this wouldn't show up under that OS.

Issue:
I've been trying to use the Windows casting function to the family TV and this would cause the AMD Adrenalin software and driver to crash. Times the connection does work the performance would be middling with frequent freezes. It's also a similar story in attempting to use Steam Link with an Oculus Quest 3 headset, stream quality often drops into poor quality and makes it near unusable in some cases.
A particular app I'm having issues using is Bigscreen VR. I can no longer host movies in a room for friends as it often freezes up for them (and sometimes myself too)
Hi! What driver version is stable for RX 7900 XT sapphire pulse for black ops 6 - Warzone? I’ve tried 24.10.1, 24.9.1, with lots of crashes. 24.8.1 being most stable but with low performance.
my pc freezing whenever I play COD or Warhammer Vermintide 2, just those two,
At first I thought it was the outdated bios, I updated it and it stayed the same, then I thought it could be the plug adapter, I changed it and plugged it directly into the socket and it was the same, and the last one I thought it could be temperature so I took one print when my pc freezing on COD and the other running God of War on ultra
Ps: GOW is the one with the highest temperature
my pc

What driver version are you using? Have you tried DDUing your present driver in safe mode, and then trying the latest preview release? Also, run sfc scannow from an elevated command prompt, in case there are any corrupted system files.
AMD, when you make that drivers future like FSR, fluid motin frames, super resoluton work with eyefinity?
Any ETA for the new driver? Preview driver for Dragon Age: The Veilguard is at least a few weeks old, not to mention that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is out and about, while in about a weeks time we are getting Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, it would be nice to have the official driver support for these games. I understand that these things take time, and to have a good driver you have to test it it accordingly, both just to ask if it is coming soon?
My system with an Amd 8600g on a gigabyte b650 gaming x ax v2 is constantly making black screens mostly when idle or web browsing or when trying to open adrenalin software.without the graphics drivers it doesnt.Any help on this? Maybe i got a faulty cpu? its driving me crazy as its a brand new setup and i fell i just wasted 500 euros
Run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt. Also check your drives for errors in Windows, assuming that you're using Windows 10 or 11. If those say that things are looking okay, then I would recommend uninstalling your present GPU driver with DDU in safe mode, then installing either the 24.7.1 drivers, or the latest preview driver - 24.20.19.05.
