AMD Adrenalin 2019 19.9.1 sub-optimal installer experience.

System Information:

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair Hero VII WIFI (X470)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core Processor

GPU1: XFX RX Vega 64 Liquid.

GPU2: PowerColor RX Vega 56 Red Dragon.
RAM: 64GB (4x16GB) Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro.

OS: Windows 10 (64 bit) Pro.

HDD: Seagate FireCuda 2TB SSHD.

Issues:

(1). Interesting Purple Screen appears during install after DDU removal of 19.8.2 - main topic of this post.
(2). Incremental update from clean DDU install of 19.8.2 fails to install correctly.
(3). Download of 19.9.1 and clean install over clean DDU install of 19.8.2 fails to install correctly.
(4). Windows 10 is STILL AUTOMATICALLY INSTALLING VERY OLD "WINDOWS AMD DRIVERS" from  <= year 2017 for Vega 64/56 and other GCN cards if you do not  completely disconnect from the internet after removing AMD GPU Drivers.
(5). Adrenalin 2019 19.9.1 installer is completely blind to "WINDOWS AMD DRIVERS" mentioned in (4) above and installs over them without removing them first, breaking AMD own installation instructions.

Screenshots of the Purple install caught on my Samsung G7 - Pity I could not use AMD Link to report these issues directly from my phone...

Hi,

Thanks for responding.

According to my PC I have all of the required updates:
pastedImage_1.png

I searched for KB4505903

pastedImage_2.png

It is not installed on my machine.

I searched for information on KB4505903

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4505903/windows-10-update-kb4505903

According to this:

It looks like the update should be installed automatically.

I will wait for next AMD Driver release and I will see if the Purple Screen happens again on next install.

If it does I will make some more effort to see if I need to specifically download and install KB4505903

Thanks again.

Just installed Adrenalin 2019 19.2.2.
No pink screen when installed but I was running from DisplayPort output from an XFX R9 Fury Double Dissipation this time.
The Adrenalin 19.9.2 driver has a problem understanding Crossfire.
My two Vega 64 cards are in Crossfire but there is no Crossfire button in the GUI to get them out of Crossfire:

I will use DDU again to uninstall Adrenalin 19.9.2. and see what happens during install if I connect the DisplayPort from primary RX Vega 64 Liquid.

Just to add - "Barney the dinosaur" is not an AMD driver bug...

This is not a driver bug. The fix for this issue is AMD cleanup utility. Run it before installing new driver. Also disable windows driver updates. AMD cleanup utility is better than DDU (for AMD cards).

I beg to differ.
DDU is practically essential.
