Hi,
Disclaimer: Title could be misleading as I'm unsure what the root cause is.
This is my following specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory
Motherboard: ASRock B550M-ITX/ac Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard
PSU: Corsair SF750 750 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular SFX Power Supply
GPU: ASUS Radeon RX 6900 XT TUF Gaming Top Edition 16GB
Monitor: LG Ultrawide 3440 x 1440
I had no problems other than my PSU being 750W for the past 2-3 years now with my 6900 XT.
A couple of days ago after performing a drivers update using DriversEasy, my PC seem to lose power on my monitor when I launch games such as FFXIV.
e.g. when i launch FFXIV, my monitor screen would go black and have a no signal message appear. I can still see my PC and GPU still being powered on.
Note: Display Port is connected from monitor to GPU directly.
This was working the previous day with no issues.
Based off the drivers update, I noticed that i did a double update:
Drivers Version: 31.0.21001.45002 (the working driver) to 31.0.21023.2010
Drivers Version: 31.0.21023.2010 to 31.0.21029.1006 (latest driver)
After checking the AMDforums and doing some online research, these are the following troublesteps performed:
- Disable MPO
- DDU Multiple Times
- Rolled back driver version using Device Manager
- Tried the 'working driver' however still failed
- Confirmed that the GPU has been plugged correctly including the pins inserted it in it for power
- Cleaned the GPU fans with compressed air can
Initially when I first tested, I was able to launch Valorant and played deathmatch for 5min or so.
When trying to launch FFXIV (Steam), CSGO (Steam) or Dota2, the symptoms reappear.
After all the troubleshooting steps, I am no longer able to launch any games.
Can anyone advise me if there is anything else I can do?
Should I overclock my GPU?
Do I need to undervolt it? If so, is this done via the AMD Adrenaline Software?
Do I need to buy a 1000w PSU? I was hoping to leave this option last since the 750W PSU have been working for me. Please advise me if using the 750w is damaging my GPU, in which I will immediately go purchase a 1000W.
- I did see some AMD recommendations that it should be 800-850W however most reddit post is suggesting to go 1000W due to the power spikes. My question is: How come is it only happening now and not at the very start?
If someone could provide me guidance, I would appreciate this greatly.
