Adrenalin 24.8.1 Randomly Opens

The latest Adrenalin software seems to cause the software to open randomly.  Seems to happen most after the PC comes out of sleep.  Not sure if anyone else is having the issue.

24.9.1 (released on 24.10.1) has resolved this issue, as per Patch Notes (and i've downloaded/installed the update and no issues so far).

I have this exact same problem since updating to 24.8.1 with rx 6600 it happens when waking monitor from inactivity

The same here.
My computer never sleeps/hibernates. When my computer locks without activity, the monitor goes into standby and powers off. Science programming runs during this downtime.
Upon re-activation, the monitor displays the lock screen for access then, when the desktop shows, the Adrenalin Software is open.
This is not a big deal for me, more of an annoyance. As mentioned earlier, this characteristic is mentioned in the known issues section of the driver notes. I'll wait for the update.
A bug report has been sent.
Cheers.

When I encounter issues like this I've had great results using revo uninstaller to remove the application, including registry entries.  After I've removed all traces of the application I reboot and reinstall.   Do this at your own risk yadda yadda.

I'm very excited.

Happening to me also and I've spent way too much time trying to stop it after upgrading to 24.8.1 from 24.7.  I've tried disabling and shutting off everything I can find.  It always comes back after the screen goes to sleep (not full machine hibernation though), so when I'm away a little to long from the screen, I have to log back in and then cancel the app before I can see my desktop.  Hopefully they will fix this annoyance soon.

+1 from here, seeing the same since the 24.8.1 update. Running Windows 10.

Also, like number 69, niiiice.

Happy gamer with and AMD Ryzen 9 5950X and an AMD RX 6700 XT.

Hopefully, this gets patched in the next update. For now, I will roll back to the previous version.

It is somehow annoying and indeed it happens right when coming out of sleep mode.

Yes, same here. I was looking on how to turn that feature off, glad to see I'm not the only one with the issue.

Yes, i to have the same issue. Adrenalin software Randomly Opens after the recent update.

Considering how many people are reporting this, it's obvious an annoying bug. There's no reason they could not roll out a hotfix to address this issue, rather than wait until some future driver release.

Microsoft rolls out hotfixes all the time.

This happens usually when im playing a game ill alt tab or exit the game and notice it opened again. Not sure why, i have disabled minimize to bar and start up .

Same problem, any fix?

I'm thinking to downgrade to 24.7.1 as well, because it didn't exhibit this issue.

Broooo, I thought I was the only one tweaking. I started checking my Startup folder and AMD settings to see what the issue was.

Same here (rx6700xt on 24.8.1). Every time the pc goes to the screen saver, or if I suspend it, when it wakes up Adrenalin software is open and showing the last notification about the software update, no matter how many times I cleared that notification.

Artificial intelligence is no match for human stupidity.

Hi everyone.

I think I figured out how to make that problem go away. I have a desktop computer that has a Radeon 7900XTX and a laptop with a 780M and the latter was doing it but the other didn't. The only difference between the two was the System tray menu option wasn't enabled on the laptop. Once I enabled it, the problem seems to have disappeared.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

It's listed under the known issues here.

"AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition may unexpectedly initiate upon system wake from sleep mode. [Resolution targeted for 24.9.2]"

I see. And the "fix" I was talking about seemed to only work when the screen is locked, not when you start from sleep mode anyway.

Seems like a long wait for such a crucial issue.

Same. Especially irritating since I constantly have to put my PC to Sleep Mode.

Well I feel much better now after reading many of your comments. I'm clearly not alone, this is a bug that can be easily fixed. AMD is aware of the problem and will surely be addressed in an update coming within the next week or two. After installing a Ryzen 7 7800x3D and RX 7900 XTX Sapphire Nitro+ that I got for a steal from MC yesterday, I thought that it could be a hardware setting I overlooked. It's just a small bug with the update. All will be well very soon. Cheers.

Seems to be a problem with screen detection? I notice that this doesn't happen upon restart / system start-up. I have a lock screen setup and even if just for a second it goes to lock-screen Adrenaline will pop up. I certainly is annoying.

Yeah same here.. after updating to the latest version, it now launches every time I wake the laptop after sleep or even close and reopen the lid. Hopefully they fix this minor yet kinda annoying issue soon.

Same here. Adrenalin 24.8.1 drivers.  On a Lenovo LOQ gaming laptop with onboard AMD Graphics and Nvidia RTX 4050 Secondary graphics. Super annoying, gonna roll back.

Not sure why AMD can't seem to release drivers without nagging issues. They also take forever to even release updates. Nividia releases them all the time.

Hallelujah! im in the same boat as yall! It will randomly pop up after a short period since the latest version update. Seems to be triggered by sleep/wake event. Radeon 7900 XTX with all latest system updates installed.

+1 Same thing here. It happens every time I wake it after going AFK long enough to make the monitors shut off.

I faced the same issue.

I did a google and found this.

If AMD software opens when you wake your Windows computer, you can try disabling the Radeon Overlay in the Radeon Settings user interface:
  • Open the Radeon Settings user interface
  • Go to the Preference section
  • Uncheck Show Overlay to disable the Radeon Overlay

For me the In Game overlay option was already disabled but I enable it and disabled again.

This still brings the AMD software on screen but goes off immediately. This is not a fix but at least we dont need to exit the AMD Software manually for now till a fix comes up.

It's just incredible, I will say no to AMD GPU!

Starting from the moment of purchase of the card, AMD has faced problems:

- teleportation of the mouse during high CPU loads

- system brakes due to graphical problems that are difficult to detect,

- video memory overflow due to "incorrect update" of the driver, I had to use DDU

- if the GPU memory is full, the driver resets the settings and restarts, the AMD Adrenaline window pops up, as well as some programs like Selenium stops working with an error.

- Memory leak, RAM fills up to 50 GB in 18 hours, which is why you have to restart your PC, for this I wrote a RAM monitoring script

- and now the AMD Adrenaline window just starts like that, similar to the symptoms of a driver restart. And I spent a lot of time trying to fix what exactly causes the "error", and it turns out to be a "low-priority bug"!

I don't play and I'm not a fanatic with a negative emotion, I don't care about AI, I bought a video card only for the sake of comfortable work in 4K resolution with 144 Hz and 10 bits, but the last point was the end of AMD Radeon for me. So much has accumulated, I wanted to speak out somewhere.
