Acer Predator Helios 500 – PH517-61 Where is Wattman?

Hello, I am having a small problem with my new laptop. I am trying to find wattman but can't, i know where it should be it should be in Radeon Settings under the gaming tab and global settings. But i only have 2 tabs in Global Settings, and they are Global Graphics & Performance Monitoring. Original Drivers are 17.12 have tried newest 18.9.1 and 18.5.1 from:

Radeon™ RX Vega 56 Drivers & Support | AMD

None works, but i must note that when i uninstalled my drivers completely i couldn't install version 18.9.1 again because it would not recognize my hardware. So i had to go to acers website to download the vga driver there that is version 17.12. I can update this driver version to 18.9.1 and it will work but can't see any difference on the surface.

Acers Website:

Product support https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7737?b=1&pn=NH.Q3GED.004

Does this gpu not support wattman? maybe? or simply not implemented yet?

This is a brand new product so not alot of info out there so any help is appreciated

What you have to do is look for a update to your APU (Ryzen) with Vega graphics. At this moment, AMD does not furnish 'generic' drivers for Mobility graphics. The manufacturer is responsible for that. Have you tried the Microsoft drivers? Just curious.

Desktop graphics (as an example):

Um.. APU is a CPU with integrated graphics right? This laptop does not have that, it has a full "desktop" Ryzen 2700 "8 cores"

Did you find an answer to your question?  I'm having the same issue.

Well apparently wattman is not activated on laptops, the reason i do not know. there is a way to get it "working" with msi afterburner but it is broken in it self and i would not recommend it, as the parameters are strange and some can't be changed. it is sad because i was hoping wattman could help me about my other problem of my gpu not boosting above 800mhz in games...

so i am afraid i can't help you, sorry

I recently purchased this laptop and it runs as its advertised clocks. I would recommend you to upgrade to the latest Windows 10 1809 and then update the AMD chipset and Display drivers. They work fine with the Acer Predator AMD system. Which games gives you that issue? I am aware that in non demanding games, it will downclock due to underutilization. Good example, Titanfall 2, that game even maxed out at 2K, my Vega 64 only runs at 1.2GHz as it is way overkill for the game.
