Ah, good question. You can check out what's compatible on the motherboards website: https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-model/

(Updated) - this motherboard is not compatible with the Ryzen 7 2700X

There are also PC Building websites where you can plug in what parts you want to use and it will tell you if it's compatible or not - here's one I've used: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/

I went to Asus Support for your Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming and the CPU SUPPORT LIST doesn't indicate that Mobo is compatible with any AMD 2000 Series processors.

Only AMD 3000 series or newer are listed as being compatible: https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-model/helpdesk_cpu/

From the Asus Support Mobo Specs:

CPU

AMD AM4 Socket 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ Processors

* Refer to www.asus.com for CPU support list

You can ask Asus support if a 2nd Generation 2000 series CPU will work but it will need a BIOS version that will support those type of AMD Processors.

This is correct, apologies for the error on my end! 

If you're looking for compatible motherboards to the CPU you have, https://pcpartpicker.com/products/cpu/ shows about 237 other compatible opinions. The community could have some recommendations as well! 🙂

PCPARTPICKER is an excellent site to find compatible hardware plus prices at times. 

EDIT: I have made similar mistakes myself in the past in other threads. It happens. no one is perfect.
