Hey guys, going to upgrade my pc, already have RAM (Gskill F4-3200C16-16GTZB) and i want to buy 5600x and b450 tomahawk max II(2) did this ram will compare to this motherboard?

You can check MSI websites QVL list, but mostly memory sticks work just fine unless they are super fast, super large or something else.

Add some voltage and try to make them run 3600C16 🙂

MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX 2 Gaming Motherboard. Is this the correct MSI Motherboard you have?

According to MSI Support for your Motherboard CPU SUPPORT LIST you must upgrade your MSI Motherboard BIOS to the latest BIOS version before installing your new 5600X Processor that is if you already have done that otherwise it won't boot up.

This is the latest BIOS Version for your Motherboard:

MSI RAM QVL List for the 5000 series CPU is very short and your RAM is not listed but doesn't mean it isn't compatible because MSI might not have tested the Part number yet. Here is the complete RAM QVL List for the 5000 series CPU: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX-II/support#mem

At G-Skill for the Part Number you posted under its QVL List is does show to support your Motherboard but doesn't mention about processors: https://www.gskill.com/qvl/165/168/1536199839/F4-3200C16D-16GTZB-QVL

To be on the safe side I would contact G-Skill support and asked them if your RAM will be compatible with your 5600X processor since MSI has no G-Skill RAM Number listed in their QVL List for the 5000 series CPUs.

Looking at AMD RAM Compatibility Chart your G-Skill Part Number is not listed as be compatible: https://www.amd.com/en/products/ryzen-compatible-memory-ryzen-3000-to-5000-series-processor

Best thing to do is just install your new 5600X processor with your present RAM Memory and see if it boots up and check correctly in BIOS.

If it doesn't boot up and you get either a CPU or RAM Trouble LED light up or Beeps or Digital Code then you need to find out if it is the RAM or a CPU issue.

Also if it doesn't boot up then use just One RAM Stick in A2 DIMM Slot and see if it boots up.

Make sure you have update your MSI BIOS version BEFORE installing the new 5600X.
