hi,
i got a Ryzen 3200G and it came with a 5-blade Stealth Wraith cooler fan..........i can only find replacement Stealth Wraith with a 7-blade fan, so can i replace the 5-blade fan with the 7-blade fan (without changing the original heatsink already attached to the CPU) ?
many thanks !
Don't the current Stealth Wraith coolers have an integrated fan / heatsink assembly? I think you would need to remove the old 5-blade Stealth Wraith cooler and replace it with the new 7-blade Stealth Wraith cooler. However, if it does come apart, where the fan mounts to the heatsink, then you should be able to rotate the ring to remove it and then unscrew the fan so you can replace it with the 7-blade fan. Please post a few pictures of what you have.
yes, i just read about some people doing what i was asking...............the fans can be switched.............many thanks
Doesn't matter how many fan blades the Wraith CPU Cooler has. As long as it has the same base for attaching it to the motherboard is what is important.
Looking at both the Wreath Stealth and Spire they both have the same base for attaching it to the motherboard which means removing the Mobo's CPU Cooler bracket and using the screw holes to attach either the Stealth or Spire. By the way the Spire is a stronger CPU Cooler than the Stealth which is the weakest CPU Cooler from AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/cpu-cooler-solution
If you want to upgrade to the AMD Prism you need to install the Mobo Brackets again to clip on the Prism CPU Cooler.
many thanks for the info................the fans can be switched..........
You mentioned having to put the mobo brackets on for the Prism cooler. I have MSI boards on the two desktops I have the Prism cooler on and I guess they have the brackets built into them, because I have never had to install any brackets for any AM3+ or AM4 socket.
Anyway, I had to remove the fan on one of the Prisms to do a minor repair on the lock down latch. Just had to remove 4 screws.
The brackets come with the Motherboard installed already. But if you notice the brackets should have screws on them to be able to remove them to install 3rd Party CPU Coolers that doesn't use Clip-on to attach the CPU Cooler.
These are standard Clip-on brackets and all are removable unless the Motherboard is a OEM Motherboard where you can;t replace the CPU Cooler for some reason.
When I installed my CoolerMaster Hyper212 CPU Cooler I needed to remove the Motherboard's Brackets and backside plate to install CoolerMaster's own Mobo Backside Plate to be able to attach the CPU Cooler.
I needed to do these on 2 different Asus Motherboards. When I had the FX and Ryxen Processors.
NOTE: The Prism uses Clip-on to attach to the Motherboard so you wouldn't need to remove your Mobo Brackets. But both the Wraith Stealth and Spire aren't Clip-ons and you do need to remove the Mobo Brackets to install those CPU Coolers.
