dual monitor setup

I now have 2 monitors and I plan to have one more in future so I will have 3 monitors. I think third monitor will be in vertical position. I like 27 inch with 1920x1080 resolution and it fits my budget.

I now have 27g2(u) and 27g2sp(u) monitors and I am happy with both of them.

I did notice top and bot corners have small area that is blocked for cursor to move from one monitor to other. I did find how to remove that limit but didnt try it.

Is there software that will improve use of 2+ monitors?

Should I do some optimization or change some settings?

Can I prevent game from minimizing when I use second monitor?

Can you share your experience with multi monitor setup?

Any advice and information are welcome.

Hey @Anonymous ,

I have a dual monitor set up, one horizontal and one vertical. Here are some of my answers to your questions:

Is there software that will improve use of 2+ monitors?

- Not that I'm aware of, but others may have recommendations!

Should I do some optimization or change some settings?

Can I prevent game from minimizing when I use second monitor?

- I haven't found a way to do this. Some games will not minimize, but with League, if I want to change the song on my second monitor - it will minimize. Here's a quick resource I found that has some tips you could try (now you've made me wonder if  I want to explore these haha)  https://computerinfobits.com/stop-game-minimizing-when-using-second-screen/

Can you share your experience with multi-monitor setup?

- Mine has been pretty good! I had to play around with the display settings a bit on the monitors, but overall I don't have any issues. I didn't even realize the top and bottom corner areas you mentioned - I think that depends on how you adjust the screens in the settings.

I have problem with desktop background It will make my image black and later it will appear again when I move mouse around desktop on both monitors and I still didnt figure details. and just now from one move entire background is black but latter when I slecet entire desktop with left mouse image will return on both monitors.

Rearrange your displays option was set correct and I didnt need to change it but when you move your mouse on top edge of your horizontal monitor and move it right towards vertical monitor cursor will not be able to move from one to other monitor and in your options its clear that top edge of both monitors are in line.

On this link you can see picture that will show invisible barrier for cursor that I talk about:

solutions (didnt work for me):

Oh you play league and I did quit that game. I did start to play dota 2 this year and I am happy. I think dota 2 is more balanced game. dota 2 requires more strategy and I am strategos ahaha.

In my case both are in horizontal position and one is marked with 1 and other with 2.

Why is your horizontal monitor (left one) marked with 1|3 ?

Can you tell me names of your monitors?  Just curious.

If you have hard time to understand some part just say and I will correct it. I do my best but I still have problems with english.

Your response was great English - I'm tracking everything you're saying 🙂

So for the black on your desktop, it could be a cord issue. Have you tried changing out the connect cords to different ones? Could be worth a try if you have extra cables.

Ah I see the sticky corners you're talking about. Which made me wonder, what version of windows are you using?

Haha about league, I don't blame you for quitting. The game can be really frustrating. I've heard lots of good things about dota 2, but I've heard from others it requires pay to win - do you agree that's true?

The reason my left monitor shows 1|3 is that I'm working from home and have my laptop plugged in. So it's mirroring what my laptop is showing on that one, and my second one is stand-alone. 🙂

The monitors I have are:

  • LG - 27" Full HD Gaming Monitor (primary gaming monitor)
    • 144Hz - 2560 x 1440
  • ASUS - 27" - I was gifted this so unsure what it is
    • 75Hz - 1440 x 2560

I like when game is fair for all players and all heroes are free in dota 2 but in league you must buy heroes. Dota 2 match often can be long I think because begginers dont know what to do. Dota 2 can have more action early and have less heroes but more actives on items and every hero is unique. Its best to try and see. Its why I will buy third monitor and see if its too much or not. For some 1920x1080 is too low for 27 inch monitor but I love it.

About black image (desktop backgroud) its more like software problem and it will happen only on desktop but I will still have task bar and icons just desktop background will become black and later it will come back. I will post screen shots.

What you think about 27inch 2560x1440p monitors? Is text too small for you? I like to keep 70cm distance between my eyes and monitor. higher resolution will have more pixels and sharper image but because pixels are smaller eyes will lose details on image sooner when we increase distance compared to lower resolution on same 27 inch screen size.

I did set desktop background again and for now no problems with black background.

I still cant disable invisible barrier in corners.

I did disable snap feature and that feature was making me angry. Evry time I move folder or browser from one monitor to other and hit edge of screen or invisible barrier snap would activate.

Disabling snap with mouse drag: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YON_wqw2vhM

I feel great now.
