Rx 6950 xt Ray Tracing Wattage Drop With Massive FPS Drop Issuse

When playing games with RT on my gpu wattage drops from 300w to like 180w and then a massive fps drops to a unplayable level in certain scenes in games like

call of duty modern warfare 2019
ratchet and clank
control
Metro exodus

Is this normal for amd cards or is my Gpu defective?

My pc specs
Motherboard: x470 asus crosshair hero 7
Cpu : 5950x
Gpu: XFX Rx 6950 xt with Sam enabled
Ram: 32 GB viper steel @ 3800mhz c14
Ssd: 1tb sata for windows 10 home
Ssd: samsung 2tb nvme 970 evo plus
Psu: segotep 1250w

I did find someone with the same problem with a Rx 6900 xt here: https://community.amd.com/t5/drivers-software/23-3-1-raytracing-issues/td-p/592541

I'm using an rx 6900 xt and when i activate RT in games like ratchet and clank i see only an expected performance drop but not nearly enough to what you are describing. My wattage spike to 300-350 but do not drop like yours. What are your temps? Maybe you are thermal throttling your card.

The card temps range from 66c-75c when gaming.

Since your card still ramp up to full power while not crashing, it might be a driver related issue

Gat DDU (Driver Display Uninstaller, from guru 3d) and do a clean install of the amd gpu drivers, then reinstall the last stable one

If you have nvidia's drivers roaming around on your windows partition from a previous Nvidia gpu, try to whipe them also, they can interfere

I switched from a 1080ti to a 6900xt and the nvidia's drivers where messing up my framerates, lots of freezes etc etc
