I have a Toshiba Satellite A350 with Centrino 2 ( core 2 duo) , 3 GB Ram , ATI radeon HD3400 series graphics card - 256 MB. The hard drive failed
and my service person upgraded the OS to Windows 10 home from windows vista Home. The wifi was getting disabled and with some internal hotwiring and adding an usb dongle , it works.
However , after computer restarted (on software updates - windows / antivirus ) , the screen would not have any display coming on the built in display . Shutting down and restarting/ brought it back on . Sometimes going into sleep mode and getting it back on brought the display.
I had changed the memory module few months ago as it was bad. Service person cleaned the dust off ram few times and display worked. It has been erratic sometimes.
Switching on with a bootable linux cd , sometimes brought up the initial prompt . I connected to tv screen through hdmi port and I have clear display.
Bios - Phoenixbios - legacy type has power on display set to auto select option .
I have heard of intel switchable graphics - windows device manager shows only ATI Radeon HD 3400 under display adaptors. The graphics adaptor came with windows 10.
