I have an RX 480 which is well known to be a good GPU but the regulators on it are almost zilch
the 12v power is more or less feed directly into the voltage converters
nvidia spends a mint on power management
This guy explains a lot about regulators. My RTX 2080 Black Edition is not some cheap cut down version, I have the full monty variant which can be overclocked, but defaults are plenty powerful
I posted it here so that radeon users could learn a bit about electrical engineering
