Is radeon image sharpening coming to Vega GPUs?

Is support for radeon image sharpening coming in a later driver release for Vega GPUs?

Unfortunately we cannot comment on what features may or may not be included in the future.

In theory is it possible though? Like there is no hardware limitation, just no guarantees of it coming to vega gpus.

well, it seems like r7 are being discontinued even tho' they have much compute power to use techs like RIS. it is also been ported for anyone to use in Re-shade.

hope VEGA users will get a more fare treatment, given that many - like myself - have bought one recently.

Here is the next one:

I will start to upload videos running Radeon Image Sharpening on RX Vega Liquid and RX Vega 56 Red Dragon tomorrow.

Bye.

I have already run it on R9 Fury X, R9 Nano, and Nvidia RTX2080.
I have not tried it on RX Vega yet but it should work. I am concentrating on testing it on the Nvidia RTX2080 first as that seems more interesting.
I will test it on my RX Vega 64 Liquid next.

You need to use ReShade: https://reshade.me/

There was already a Contrast Aware Sharpening filter called Smart_Sharp before this new Radeon Image Sharpening Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS).
I have my initial test videos uploading now.
I have not had time to add any voice over explanation or music but since you are interested I uploaded them.
I don't really do "YouTube".

Here is the first video which is an introduction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CI7a4zCnao

I will try to answer any questions you may have by adding comments to the video.

Bye.

What is this reshade.me product supposed to do?

hello, it is a shame that it is not implemented natively in vega graphics having the potential to support it, thanks for the data, I will prove it

It worked for my vega64 on version Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.7.1 without any customization on default it was possible to enable it

Please AMD, give to your fans and customers this advantage for vega and RX cards because we always little bit suffering until AMD finish products drivers and BIOSes.

I know nobody's products are perfect, I have Ryzen 9 with x570 chipset with Vega64

Your advocate

Here is a video showing you how to install Contrast Aware/Adaptive filtering with ReShade  it and get it running on your GPU and game . I used FarCry 5 in this example. It works on AMD Vega 64/56/R9 FuryX/Fury/Nano for sure, Also on Nvidia RTX2080.

The video is still processing so you might have to wait for 1080p/2K/4K versions.

Yes I would like to know as well especially now that AMD has given it to all the older cards but still not the people who supported them by buying Vega cards.  I have to say I'm VERY disappointed.

Radeon Image Sharpening has been added for Vega GPUs in Adrenalin 19.9.3.

See Release notes here:
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-19-9-3

Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.9.3 Highlights

Support For

  • Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Breakpoint
  • Radeon Image Sharpening
    • Now available on Radeon VII, Radeon RX Vega 64, Radeon RX Vega 56 and Radeon Vega Frontier Edition graphics products for DirectX®12 and Vulkan® applications.

      Thank you AMD.

Here is how you turn Radeon Image Sharpening on in RX Vega 64 Liquid.

Hi.

OK so I just quickly looked at Radeon Image Sharpening Implementation on two games in DX12 using Adrenalin 19.9.3.

Testing method is to exit all applications. Set the Radeon Image Sharpening Button off. Launch games @ 2K Ultra Fullscreen Settings from the AMD Radeon Settings Game Profile. Take Screenshots.

Repeat the above but set the Radeon Image Sharpening Button on to have comparison screenshots.

(1). BFV with Reshade already installed, but turning all ReShade Shaders off. (I have been testing ReShade as a solution to implement Contrast Aware/Adaptive Sharpening and global illumination on AMD and Nvidia GPUs).

I could not tell any difference between Radeon Image Sharpening Button off or on.
If I turn on ReShade CAS.fx filter I definitely get really good image sharpening.

It may be that ReShade installation is preventing " Radeon Image Sharpening Button on" from working.
I will uninstall ReShade, reverify the BFV installation and retest later.

(2). Strange Brigade with no ReShade installed.

Definitely working.

Compare and Contrast:

Radeon Image Sharpening Button off.

I have to get on with some other work now.

Please look  at the following thread for any more information on Adrenalin 19.9.3 testing from now on:
https://community.amd.com/thread/243526

The new correct answer for this thread is that Radeon Image Sharpening is definitely implemented on Vega GPUs in Adrenalin 19.9.3 and working on an RX Vega 64 Liquid at least.

Bye.
