Eyefinity "Discard" does not work

My HP PC570 desktop used to recognise two separate displays and windows allowed these to be configured individually with options to extend over two displays with each display recognised individually.

I set up an eyefinity group to see what was possible in the way of using the two displays as a single desktop. Google searches indicate that cancelling the eyefinity group is carried out by clicking one of the two options available.

Selecting "Discard" in Radeon Settings or "Disable Eyefinity Display Group" in the advanced settings results in the computer rebooting but fails to reset the computer to use two separate displays.

I need to revert to having the use of the displays as individuals with the ability to extend etc. via windows.

Any help you can give will be appreciated.
