CPU Upgrade Issues

So I decided to upgrade the processor on my ancient PC, eventually want to do a completely new build but I figured a new cpu would carry me over until then but Im having some issues. My motherboard is a ga-990xa-ud3 (rev. 1.0) and has had a AMD Phenom II x4 960T processor in it forever. I purchased a FX-8150, about the best processor this motherboard supports, or at least is suppose too. I upgraded my BIOS too the newest available stable BIOS (f13), did a CMOS clear, and did a fresh Windows install but the issue is still happening. The computer will boot fine, I can go into the BIOS and its reading the correct Bios Version and reads the FX-8150 but it will either get to the windows load screen and then black screen or freeze on windows log in. It froze in safe mode too but it lasted longer and I at least got to the desktop. Im curious if my motherboard doesn't actually support the cpu? I have a 600w PS which should be enough but maybe not? Or did I get a lemon of a CPU? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

According to your Gigabyte Support CPU SUPPORT LIST your Motherboard is compatible up to the latest FX Series processor - FX8370: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-990XA-UD3-rev-1x/support#support-cpu

Note: you will need to upgrade your CPU Cooler to a powerful CPU Cooler rated at 150 Watt TDP or higher. The FX 8000 series CPU coolers have high TDP ratings of 125 Watts.

Plus a very low Maximum Operating Temperature of 61c. So to prevent overheating you will need a strong CPU Cooler rated at or above 150 Watts with possibly 2 fan configuration or AIO Liquid CPU Cooler.
