This year, we’ve made continuous enhancements to the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition™ application, introducing valuable updates and innovative features. At the beginning of the year we launched AMD Fluid Motion Frames1, video upscale improvements and expanded encoding capabilities. In the summer, we announced AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution (FSR) 3.1 along with the rapid adoption of FSR 3 in over 80 titles, and rolled out AMD Radeon™ Anti-Lag 2 which is now supported in Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2 and Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR'S CUT. We are excited to share our latest version of AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, 24.9.1, which continues to deliver incredible updates and improvements so that you can make the most out of your PC and have the best gaming experiences.

Instant Performance with AMD HYPR-RX and AFMF 2

AMD Fluid Motion Frames, or AFMF, is our cutting-edge frame generation technology designed to increase frame rates and gameplay smoothness. It is integrated right into AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition™ and is part of AMD HYPR-RX4, our one-click performance enhancing solution that delivers outstanding gaming experiences on AMD Radeon™ graphics cards. AFMF works across thousands of games and is supported on AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 and 7000 series graphics cards and select AMD Ryzen™ Processors with Radeon™ Graphics, and earlier this summer we release a preview of AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2, a significant upgrade from the initial version of this great technology.

AFMF 2 adds new optimizations and tunable settings for a better frame generation experience, including AI-optimized enhancements for improved quality, lower latency, and better performance on integrated graphics such as the AMD Radeon™ 890M found in the new AMD Ryzen™ AI 9 HX 370 processor. We’ve also added interop support with AMD Radeon™ Chill5, support for borderless full screen (on AMD Radeon™ RX 7000 Series graphics), and support for Vulkan® and OpenGL® games. When tested in select games across select AMD Radeon™ RX 7000 Series graphics cards and AMD Ryzen™ Processors with Radeon graphics, HYPR-RX with AFMF 2 can help deliver on average 2.5x higher frame rates in select games6. Check out the chart below for a more detailed AFMF 2 performance breakdown.

On AMD Radeon™ RX 7000 Series graphics cards and AMD Ryzen™ 7000 Series Processors with Radeon™ graphics and higher, AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 can be quickly enabled in your games by selecting the HYPR-RX profile in the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition application. Users running AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series discrete graphics can enable AFMF 2 globally in “Graphics Options”.  You also have the option to enable this and other features on a per-game basis by going through the gaming tab and selecting the desired game you want to tweak.

You can learn more details about AFMF 2 and all the upgrades in the new version in our in-depth blog, and you can also see how it can maximize gaming performance on laptops with our latest AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series mobile processors in this new blog.

Experience Smoother Video Playback

Visuals are always an important part of the PC experience whether you’re watching the latest streams from content creators you follow or catching up on the latest episodes from your favorite shows. In this update to AMD Software, we’re introducing a new technology called Geometric Downscaling that allows you to experience smoother video playback.

When videos are being played in a window that is smaller than the native resolution, Geometric Downscaling helps reduce visual artifacts and aliasing, allowing for smoother video quality – meaning that you’ll see less jagged lines across your videos, clearer resolution, and simply put – a better visual experience overall without needing to lift a finger. This feature will have support for AMD RDNA 3 architecture-based products and all DirectX® 11 applications.

Stay Tuned for More Greatness

What’s great about these updated features, is that you can take advantage of them without the need to subscribe to any “premium plan” or to log in to any account. Our software will continue to be updated, so stay on the lookout for more updates to come.

Make sure that you have our AMD Community blogs bookmarked so you know when the latest updates come to AMD Software, and follow our socials across XFacebookInstagram, and TikTok for the latest news and giveaways.
