Storage drivers for Windows: HP Pavilion 15-eh1106ua

Hello. I'm kinda stuck in installing Windows for HP Pavilion 15-eh1106ua

Microsoft support suggested me contacting hp, hp support suggested me contacting AMD.

The problem during installing of Windows - "A media driver your computer needs is missing".

Tried to use the one from https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/x570 - no luck.

Could you help in finding a suitable driver?

@elstaci finally I was able to find out the reason of the problem: it was the specific USB device that was used to install Windows 11, causing the problem and not AMD storage drivers at all!

Windows was just misleading and didn't point out which specifically drivers it was missing.

After using another USB drive all worked like a charm.

Since you didn't mention which version Windows you are trying to install I will be guessing.

Here is HP Support download page for your laptop: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-pavilion-15.6-inch-laptop-pc-15-eh1000/model/2100286946?sku=...

Update all the drivers on your laptop.

You have a new BIOS version F.27 Rev A from 12/23.

Here a few websites that gives Troubleshooting tips on your error:

Hello @elstaci!

Thanks for sharing the links, some of them were presenting new potential remedies in contrary to what I've tried before (like replugging into another USB after the error is shown).

Also tried to provide 'AMD-RAID Bottom device' driver - it seems to be accepted by Windows but in the result - nothing happens, no media detected again.

In order to exclude a possibility that it's a hardware failure I installed Linux Mint and it worked without problems, so the SSD is definitely not faulty, however I need Windows 10 or 11 for my work.

I'm kinda desperate(

I presume you laptop has a DVD player in it correct?

Burn the Windows ISO unto a DVD disc and try using it that way.

Also try running Windows Setup while on the desktop or go to here and click on updating WIndows:

Windows 10: Microsoft Windows 10 Download

Windows 11: Microsoft Windows 11 Download

NOTE: First try updating by going to the appropriate  Windows version link I posted and click to update your Laptop. Select the option for a new install and let the process succeed.

If that doesn't work then try using a DVD Disc to do a Clean Windows install.

Also in BIOS make sure that you have it set for the correct type of Storage driver  SATA/AHCI  and not IDE or RAID.

Also is your SSD recognized correctly in BIOS?

Glad you finally got it installed. It is difficult to know if it is due to hardware or software issue.
