Screen flickers when 4K video is PAUSED in YouTube using Edge (Chrome). Steps:

  1. Open 4K video in YouTube using Edge (Chrome), for example this video.
  2. Start playing it, switch to 4K quality, pause.
  3. Move your mouse, preferably between the page contents and the browser url bar.
  4. Screen flickers.

The issue does NOT happen when:

  • the video is playing
  • the video quality is 1440p
  • using Firefox browser

See attached video:

  1. Video is in 4K, paused, I move mouse, screen flickers.
  2. I resume video, I move mouse, screen does NOT flicker.
  3. I pause video again, I move mouse, screen flickers.
  4. I switch to 1440p, video is paused, I move mouse, screen does NOT flicker.
  5. I switch back to 4K, video is paused, I move mouse, screen flickers.

I don't have any other issues with my PC.

Try downgrade back to 22.5.1 22.7.1 22.8.1 and 22.8.2 all had huge issues in some cases it even effects stability.

All drivers after 22.5.1 are optional and beta there has not been a more stable driver after 22.5.1

Would also recommend uploading video to YouTube instead uploading it here it never gets aproved due lack of moderation probably.

Did you solve it anyhow? 23.9.1 here and this still drives me mad - when I have 165Hz refresh rate I do get these flickers when I pause videos in chrome. Doesn't happen on 120Hz
