B550 chipset driver (AMD x Gigabyte Utility )

Hello.

I am running a 64-bit Windows 10 22H2 system in a Gigabyte´s B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 - rev. 1.2 motherboard.  I have assembled the PC myself and, besides this motherboard, I have 1 AMD 5 4600G processor, a 240GB SSD system drive, 2 x 8 GB RAM modules from Corsair (Vengeance LPX (CMK 16GX4M2B3200C16 - 3200 MHZ)), a 160 GB HD for my private files. No graphics cards installed.

So far, I have found 3 different chipset drivers for this motherboard.

1. Gigabyte motherboard support page (pt-br language) offers chipset driver version 3.10.22.706 dated April 08, 2022.

2. Searching other locations such as Tech Powerup and AMD pages, I found chipset version 5.08.02.027, dated August 17, 2023 shown as most recent version for B550 chipset.

3. Using motherboard manufacturer´s utility (AORUS App Center), I got chipset driver version 5.08.23.2018 installed.

My guess is that Gigabyte page is probably outdated and AMD is more adequate, but the Gigabyte´s AORUS App Center version number puzzles me.

I could not find information to compare the 3 versions.

Does anybody have any idea whether this 5.08.23.2018 version could be the most adequate?

Thanks.

I don't see that 5.08.23.2018 version anywhere on:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/previous-drivers/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b550

Sorry.  But, I'd recommend grabbing the latest official one on AMD's page:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b550

If Windows Device Manager shows devices needing drivers, you might need to download specific ones from Gigabyte.  For my particular motherboard, I think the only thing I downloaded from Gigabyte (besides their latest BIOS, of course) was their Thunderbolt drivers.  Intel owns those, but won't distribute directly to owners.  I had no other choice but to grab it from Gigabyte.

Thanks for the reply.

As mentioned on my initial post, the 5.08.23.2018 is offered by Gigabyte´s App Center, not AMD. Just the same as pointed out in your reply.

I digged a little on internet and found a reference to version 5.08.02.027 Release Notes on a  French page, and compared them to 5.08.23.2018 Release Notes.

Differences are related to drivers version numbers, higher for 3 drivers in 5.08.23.2018  , and 3 drivers (AMD CIR Driver, AMD AS4 ACPI Driver, AMD SFH I2C Driver) listed in 5.08.02.027 Release Notes, but not in 5.08.23.2018's.

If you have any additional comment / suggestion specially concerning the 3 "'missing" drivers please let me know. Otherwise I will rollback the chipset driver to 5.08.02.027, once I found that the Gigabyte´s App Center also offers a video adapter driver that causes a permanent black screen, after installation.

You may have to ask Gig. tech support about that, it could be a modified/patch version specifically for that board. Not the first time their numbering has been different to official AMD.

I don't use the App center.
