A new, improved, different issue with OpenGL!

So in attempting to run OpenGL games, I obtain error messages and frustration.

My AMD Adrenalin software install shows I have OpenGL 4.6 installed, as shown in the first screenshot.

However, when I go to run an OpenGL game, I get something like this:

OpenGL Dune Spice Wars.png

So because of this and the new and improved stutters introduced by 24.6 in the games I *CAN* play, I rolled back to 24.5. I used DDU in safe mode, then clean installed 24.5. I have done this twice, to no avail.

Please help.

Can post your PC information? Do you have a Processor with IGPU installed?

Can you upload an image of GPU-Z verifying that you have OpenGL 4.6 installed?

Is this the only game affected by this OpenGL error?

Does Device Manager show any errors?

Run DXDIAG.exe and "save to file". Open the DXDIAG.txt file and go to the last category to see which files are having issues. It should show both windows and game files that are having issue in your PC.

You can open a OpenGL/Vulkan thread at the new AMD OpenGL/Vulcan forum at Github: https://github.com/GPUOpen-Drivers/AMD-Gfx-Drivers

You can also open a AMD SUPPORT TICKET to see if this is something that they are aware of: https://www.amd.com/en/forms/contact-us/support.html

NOTE: In Windows Settings did you assign your GPU card for that specific game to see if the error goes away?

Hello and thanks for responding,

My PC is:

MSI MAG X570S TOMAHAWK

Ryzen 9 5950X

Mushkin 2 x 32 Gb DDR4-3600 (MRX4U360GKKP 32G)

MSI Radeon 6750 XT

A bunch of drives

MSI MPG 491 CQP 32:9 5120 X 1440 (main display)

ASUS 1080p in portrait (secondary)

Samsung 1080p in landscape (tertiary)

GPU-Z shows no OpenGL version installed (empty checkbox) although the Adrenalin app shows the version 4.6

That last section with the heading "Diagnostics" shows "No Data" in all 10 "WER" subheadings.

If the OpenGL box is not checked mark in GPU-Z that means that OpenGL isn't enabled in the AMD driver thus the problem that you are having.

AMD Driver is the one that enables OpenGL for your GPU card.

Can you upload an image of GPU-Z to see if there are other discrepancies showing?

Here is my GPU-Z for my 4060 Nvidia GPU card. I have circled those APIs that should be checked mark for your AMD GPU Card:

Screenshot 2024-07-15 125211.png

You should have the following APIs check marked:

1- OpenCL

2-OpenGL 4.6

3-Vulkan

4-Ray Tracing

5-DirectCompute

6-DirectML

CUDA and PhysX are only for Nvidia GPU cards.

Since OpenGL isn't check marked on GPU-Z indicates that your AMD Driver is either corrupted or didn't install correctly or OpenGL is not initialized or recognized in Windows.

Plus I see you have 3 displays connected. Try to remove 2 of the Displays and just connect one directly to your GPU card and reboot and see if OpenGL is enabled or not.

EDIT:

Latest AMD driver for the RX 6750XT: https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/graphics/radeon-rx/radeon-rx-6000-series/amd-r...

Previous AMD driver for the RX 6750XT: https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/previous-drivers.html/graphics/radeon-rx/radeon-rx-6000-ser...

See if the latest driver enables OpenGL on your GPU card otherwise if it doesn't then use a previous AMD driver to see if OpenGL is enabled.

If a previous driver does enable OpenGL then I would open a AMD SUPPORT ticket to let them know from here: https://www.amd.com/en/forms/contact-us/support.html

Yes, 23.5.2 enables OpenGL and works in the OpenGL games, only the DirectX ones lose a lot of functions I need, such as FSR 3 and uh the uh other things. I forget the names.

Here is the screenshot of GPU-Z with 24.4 installed:

GPU-Z2.gif

I would open a AMD SUPPORT Ticket and let them know that, at least, with your MSI RX 6750XT OpenGL is not enabled with driver 24.4.1 and that driver 23.5.2 OpenGL is enabled but you have issues with losing some features with DirectX.

I know that at Github there is a registry program that detects and enables OpenCL for AMD GPUs when the AMD driver wasn't able to detect or recognize OpenCL: https://github.com/ptrumpis/OpenCL-AMD-GPU

Don't know if something similar is available for OpenGL.  Possibly the OpenGL files needs to be Re-registered in Windows for AMD to detect and recognize OpenGL like in OpenCL in the latest driver.

Could also be a Windows issue or conflict with AMD driver.

Just to check your Windows OS run in a elevated Command Prompt/Powershell the following simple command line: SFC /scannow.

After is finishes running see if it did any repairs to your Windows OS.

Could you please provide the OpenGL games titles you are trying to run? Could you please test the most recent Adrenalin 24.7.1?
