My favorite is this cover of Grandma Got Runover By a Reindeer by Free Throw / Oso Oso (emo revival bands).  What I love about it is that they take what should be a fun/cheesy song and make it so dramatic and believable, as if it really happened and really impacted their lives... infusing a ton of emotion in it, but with some really powerful guitars and vocals too.  I love it every time I hear it!
