Rx 6700xt blackscreen after installing amd adrenalin

Hello, I just got returned my graphics card since it had an issue with blackscreening when starting games, however when I plugged the new replaced card in and started the PC, I didn't get a video output, but after restarting the PC it worked fine. However when I installed the whql-amd-software-adrenalin-edition-24.12.1-win10-win11-dec-rdna drivers for my RX 6700XT, my PC blackscreened after finishing the driver installation. After restarting my PC, it worked fine for about 2 minutes before i got another blackscreen out of the blue, so I restarted the PC and got the message that I have the wrong driver for my graphics card, so I decided to uninstall my display drivers in safe mode with networking with DDU. After restarting, it took maybe 2 minutes to recognise the graphics card in device manager and from there it worked fine, so I decided to try installing the drivers 1 more time to check if it would still not work, which it didn't and I had to use DDU in safe mode again. Does anyone know why this happens or how I can fix it?

Here are my pc specs: asus prime h770-plus d4, intel i5 12600k, 32gb 3200mhz ddr4 from g skill, rx 6700xt

I just checked and it also still blackscreens whenever I start games, even without the amd adrenalin drivers installed.

The current Adrenalin driver update (24.12.1) is recommended for your RX 6700 XT.  You could try installing the 24.8.1 driver update and see if that works.

Other things to consider are your monitor cables (please use DP cable if possible) and your monitor itself.  Also, if you go out of the refresh rate for your monitor, say going to 120 Hz for a 60 Hz monitor, the monitor will go blank too.  You might only have a refresh rate problem here.

Hi, I've had this issue with games blackscreening upon starting since august or september, however after changing my motherboard which was faulty, to the current one it worked until around mid-november when the same issue started, so I doubt that it is purely a driver issue. I'm also using a DP cable and my monitor is currently set to 144hz, even though it is a 240hz monitor so I hope that that should be fine too. Also, it works fine if I use my integrated graphics to play any game, of course with a much worse frame rate but no crashes and no other problems.

Try a few other settings for your monitor, including 240 Hz.  Double check that setting in Windows after you reboot the computer when making these changes.
