Need help with my old n56dp laptop.

I'm trying to get an old n56dp ASUS laptop top working so I can play some games on it like rec room but it wont fully launch because it says I have the wrong drivers. in device manager it says I have a a10-4600 with 7660g graphics apu and a Radeon HD 7700m. I tried installing the catalyst drivers from amd but it wont work because those drivers are too old. I also tried the Radeon from amd but the Radeon software said that no drivers were installed for my devices. I tried a whole bunch of drivers but its still not working so I'm coming here for help. also I have been using the 7730m drivers from amd because I cant find the 7700m drivers anywhere on their site. Please Help!

The A10-4600 Catalyst 15.7.1 driver was the last WHQL released. There is a Crimson 16.2.1 beta if you want to give that a try.

https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/processors/a-series/a10-series-apu-for-laptops...

Ryzen R7 5700X | B550 Gaming X | 2x16GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 7900XT
Ryzen R7 5700G | B550 Gaming X | 2x8GB G.Skill 4000 | Radeon Vega 8 IGP
Ryzen R5 5600 | B550 Gaming Edge | 4x8GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 6800XT

I've already tried that and it  didn't work. when I install the drivers windows instead uses 'Microsoft basic display adaptor'. and what does WHQL mean?

Are you trying to use Windows 11? The A10-4600 only works with Windows 7, 8.1 and 10.

WHQL stands for Windows Hardware Quality Labs, a Microsoft facility that tests hardware and drivers to ensure they work with Windows operating systems. As opposed to Beta, which have not been certified.

Well, Windows 10 is end-of-support in October and your hardware doesn't support Windows 11. The A10-4600 is nearing 13 years old. If you want to play more modern games you'll need a hardware upgrade. Even if you didn't play games, the OS won't be supported after this year nor get security updates, meaning it won't even be safe to use on the Internet.

Unfortunately your laptop graphics are very outdated and not supported anymore with AMD updates.

So if the AMD drivers for 2015/2016 still are too old for your games than you will need to update the laptop to a newer laptop that is still supported with AMD updates.

You can see which games are compatible with your legacy Graphics hardware by go to "Can I Run It" game sites like:

System Requirements Lab.com - Can I Run It

Technical City - Can I Run It

Game Debate - Can I Run It

Note: you might want to install, at your risk, Modified AMD Drivers that are newer than 2015/2016 from AmernimeZone Modified AMD drivers

That website tries to modify the latest AMD drivers to work with legacy or Non-supported AMD Graphics hardware.

right now i am using the catalyst drivers but none of my games run cause it says i need to update my drivers but when i update my drivers it uses the microsoft basic display adaptor.

Depending on how new the games you are trying to run if they are newer than 2016 most likely your AMD driver will be outdated and not compatible.

You might want to try the AMD Modified Drivers to see if it will install and run newer games otherwise you are out of luck. Laptop AMD hardware is too outdated for newer games.

NOTE: Make sure you make a Windows Restore point before updating your AMD driver in case something goes wrong.

Edit: did you run any of those "Can I Run It" gaming websites to see which games you can run in your legacy laptop?
