I'm not sure I follow you're saying I need to enable FreeSync in my AMD software to use the DP cable?
As far as I know the LG monitor I have does not support Freesync.
I thought DP was independent of a graphics card manufacturer's FPS syncing technology ?

My mistake, thinking you were trying freesync (not supported on the 270).
Is "no signal detected" the full/only error message, have you updated monitor software/firmware, running multi monitors ?
Many possible causes, from cable loose(not firmly connected/clicked in) to incorrect/incompatible windows/monitor settings, what resolution/frequency is card rated for on DP (asus for info on their card).
A basic is turn off all power to pc/monitor(at the wall), wait a minute or two, then connect dp cable.
Sorry, can't help further(don't have dp monitor).
Your monitor is freesync (2 vers. i checked are), so check option is disabled.
You got it
I was connecting via DP with the HDMI STILL connected . . schoolboy error. the system thought I was adding another screen so my DP screen was "coming in as screen 2 therefore "invisible". I simply disconnected the HDMI and all is good.
Shame the R9 270 doesn't support Freesync. . . hey AMD...how about fixing this? I only bought the 270 18 months ago!
