Hey guys, I'm having a unique issue. I am not able to install my AMD Graphics Display Drivers.

I am using Windows 10 64-bit and here are my specs:

  • AMD A6-6400k APU (stock clock)
  • G.Skill Ares Series DDR3-1600 8GB RAM
  • Samsung 830 Series 120GB SSD
  • ASRock FM2A88x - ITX+
  • Fractal Design Integra 450watt PSU

When I go to device manager, it says that I am currently use Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. When I go try and install the latest driver supported for my APU (15.7.1), the computer flickers as it always does when installing a video driver, but then it reboots (as if it had crashed) before the installation is even done. Since it reboots/crashes during the installation, it refuses to boot and I am forced to go into Safe Mode and use DDU to remove the failed driver.

I  have tried the Beta crimson driver that the AMD site has available. I also tried updating my BIOS version to the latest version that is available on the ASRock website. I have reinstalled the OS, and ran Windows Memory Diagnostics to see if my RAM was causing issues, which they weren't.

Could someone please help?
