Check out the blog introduction: http://developer.amd.com/community/blog/2015/09/03/amd-firerender-library-a-state-of-the-art-3d-renderer/
The actual technology page is here: http://developer.amd.com/tools-and-sdks/graphics-development/firepro-sdk/amd-firerender-technology/
It builds on the FireRays intersection testing library, and follows the same hardware and OS neutral approach. It works on CPU, GPU, and CPU+GPU. Behind the scenes it uses OpenCL 1.2 to accelerate calculations. So it should work on any hardware that has OpenCL 1.2 support, not just AMD hardware.
FireRender is not generally available. Check out the Technology Page for how to get it, if this is of interest to you.
