need help getting a desktop compatible with my monitor

    martin

      Hello,

I have a new monitor:  NEC PA242W-BK  24"  16.10  1920 x 1200 native resolution. (100% coverage of sRGB color gamut and 99.3% of Adobe RGB - 10-bit DisplayPort and HDMI connectivity for the highest color fidelity)  My Qosmio laptop GTX560M could only support 1440 x 900 resolution and connection via an old D-sub cable.

I am buying a desktop and I'm confused about what I need in order to get the 1920 x1200 resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio.  I do website design and development using Adobe products.  I do not game at all; speed is not so important to  me.

I hope my question isn't outside the ballpark.  Any help would be appreciated.  The monitor's screen color is terrible; I've put off trying to fix that until I have the new desktop.

      Thanks.
