    Couldn't get work OpenCL in my machine

      Hi to all,

      I have a dell computer with Debian wheezy on it. I've installed fglrx from repositories and the AMDAPP from the AMD website.

      As you can see, I'm running the proprietary drivers right now and I thought OpenCL shou.d have to work.

       

      $ glxinfo | grep render

      direct rendering: Yes

      OpenGL renderer string: AMD Radeon HD 7400M Series

          GL_NV_conditional_render, GL_NV_copy_depth_to_color, GL_NV_copy_image,


      But, when I launch my test code, that is what I get:


      $ ./example-0

      I don't understand why my radeon video card is not detected as valid device.

          Hi,

          Please check the "device_type" option when listing the available devices [clGetDeviceIDs]? It should be either CL_DEVICE_TYPE_GPU or CL_DEVICE_TYPE_ALL to access all available GPUs.

              It is already _ALL. I show you some gdb dump

              As you can see, length var is set by clGetDeviceIDs at 1.

                  Yes,  it seems your OpenCL run-time is unable to detect the GPU device. Are the "clinfo" and "fglrxinfo" commands able to list the GPU device correctly?

                      clinfo couldnt find the GPU, even if fglrxinfo does

                      I looked a bit around and I guess that something is interfering with the integrated intel graphics. Is it possible that? If it is so, how can I disable it or forcing cl to detect the gpu anyway?!

                          Hi,

                          Thanks for sharing these information. That is reason the clGetDeviceIDs was unable to detect the GPU.

                          I don't know whether your assumption is correct or not, or how to exactly solve the problem. I would suggest you to re-install the driver once again and check whether the problem solves or not. If still persists, I can forward this issue to concerned team.

                          Also, there is another forum called AMD Support and Game Forums (for hardware and driver support) where you can post your query.
