Do EPYC 7001 CPUs have to match in dual CPU systems?

When building a dual CPU system with a pair of EPYC 7001 CPUs, do the CPUs have to match in any way.

1. Do CPUs have to be the same model. e.g. 7371 + 7371 as opposed to 7371 + 7451?

2. Do CPUs of the same model (e.g. 7451 + 7541) have to match in some other way like stepping or batch numbers?

I'm thinking of using the Supermicro H11DSi-NT.

I believe your question is best suited for AMD Forums AMD Server Gurus‌ which involves using EPYC processors and motherboards.

Hello deeplearner‌,

Yes, the two processors must match.  AMD does not support mixing OPN's (models) in the same system.

as a rule for dual 80386 rig I had way back and since, dual and quad socket rigs all need identical processors to be able to function

NewEgg sells Supermicro threadripper motherboards and they at least come with CPUs installed.
