It’s summertime, and it’s getting hot (and humid) here in Austin, TX! June marks the end of the first half of 2023 and as before, it’s time for an update on what we’ve been cooking and will be serving for the rest of the year. We’ve got a brand new grill, and have mastered BBQing ribeye steaks, brisket, and pulled pork… just kidding. Keep reading, Red Team! We’ve been busy working on numerous projects since December 2022.
Since December 2022:
New Discussions: Thanks to your feedback, Red Team, we’ve launched a few new discussion categories to help everyone with building PCs, gaming, and much more. Specifically, we’ve launched the “Parts Recommendations”, “PC Building How-to Articles”, and “Tech Deals” categories. Be sure to check them out if you haven’t yet, and feel free to post your recommendations, tips, and any tech deals you know of. I’m sure they’ll be helpful to everyone.
New Navigation Tool: I’m sure to those of you who have been around for more than a year, the new navigation tool has dramatically improved the path to post new discussions throughout the platform. When you click on the “Start a Discussion” button, you’re now presented with a new page that clearly lists the various categories (a.k.a. sub-forums) along with their descriptions. We’ve noticed a major improvement in the user journey, and couldn’t have done it without your feedback Red Team! Thank you!
Red Team Newsletter: @Wally_AMD, @Amber_AMD, and I continue to send our monthly Newsletter to you by the first Friday of each month. You may have noticed a new layout as well as new sections such as Tech Deals, Platform Updates, and Partner Announcements. I believe the newsletter is a great way for everyone to stay in the know. If you haven’t yet, be sure to subscribe!
Contests and Sweepstakes: Our favorite part of our job, the contests and sweeps are fun and important to us! They’re a great way for everyone to have a chance to upgrade their rigs, win game codes, and get some swag too! To “play”, all you have to do is sign up for the Red Team Community, then visit the Contests and Sweeps category every month. By the way, for the month of June, we’re giving away an AMD Swag Bag!
About contests. We closed the 2022 Rig of the Month contest on a high note by rewarding @legion404 with the “MSI Gaming Rig Powered by AMD” grand prize. You can check out his rig, called “Vidar”, here. In April, we launched the AMD Red Team Easter Egg Hunt contest. We challenged you to answer five hidden questions for a chance to win an MPG X570S Edge Max Wi-Fi Motherboard for the grand prize winner, and a Vigor GK71 Sonic Blue Keyboard & Clutch GM51.
Polls and Surveys: We’re running the “Where do you primarily consume AMD-related content?” poll. We have run a few since December 2022 and will continue to do so for the rest of the year. Polls are a great way for us to quickly learn about your interests. Same for surveys. We've conducted two so far, and we’re getting ready to do another one in a couple of days. A special “Thank You” to those of you who took the time to respond to our questions. Your feedback is important to us and has helped us make the right decisions.
Partners: Our friends at Alienware, ASUS, and MSI never hesitate to help us by providing awesome components for our builds, sweeps, and contests. They also help us at events and provide us with their feedback on how we're doing -- constantly. In addition, our software partners are always ready to arm us with game codes for you! Thank you so much for working with us. Without you, we couldn’t have made this year as great as it has been. Right, Red Team?
AMD Volunteer Moderators: Our mighty volunteers have done a wonderful job in helping us fight spammers, keep the discussions clean, assist fellow members navigate the platform, and provide us with insights into what’s cool and not-so-cool. A mega “Thank You” to @BigAl01, @blazek, @cpurpe91, and @mengelag for all the help! You are a-w-e-s-o-m-e!
Looking ahead: We have a few, fun and exciting “things” coming your way!
PC Building How-to Articles: We’re going to pause the development of new articles for a little while. But rest assured we’ll publish new articles in the last quarter of 2023. Most importantly, I’d like to take a moment to thank @blazek, @johnnyenglish, @filinux, @red5, @jamesc359, @Weber462, @mengelag, @BigAl01, @Axxemann, @Amber_AMD, @cpurpe91, @petosiris, and retired baby model @Wally_AMD for all the help! Thank you, guys!
Official Red Team Discord: We have received the green light to jump into Discord, and we’re excited! We aim to jump in by the end of July – if not sooner. I’m still a little nervous because I’m from the “TeamSpeak” days, but Amber and Wally have done a great job in getting everything ready for the launch. Be sure to keep an eye out for the official announcement in an upcoming Red Team Newsletter as well as a discussion here in the forum.
Red Team Modders Steampunk PC Case Contest: My personal favorite project! Starting on July 1, we’re going to invite you to show us your “mod skills” by creating a steampunk-themed rig and submit pictures of your creation for a chance to win some AM5 components. It will run for 90 days – so you'll have plenty of time. I’m excited to see your rigs, Red Team! Keep an eye out for the official announcement on July 1 here in the forum.
V-LAN 1 is coming soon!: We’ve made a lot of progress toward bringing back our V-LANs! We’re about to enter the testing phase and have secured most of the required documentation (rules, ToCs, etc.). We’ve also started discussions with our partners ASUS, MSI, and Alienware. With any luck, we’ll have the party in August.
Red Team Monthly Sweepstakes: Yes! We’ll continue to have these till the end of 2023!
Thanks to you, 2023 has been great! We continue to learn from you through our surveys and polls and enjoy supporting you in any way we can. We enjoy reading your part recommendations and pc-building tips and smile when learning about your hobbies in the off-topic discussions. Most importantly we continue to make new friends! Go Red Team!
