Happy Holidays, Red Team! I hope you had a great Christmas, and are enjoying the Holiday Season. 2023 is coming to an end, and once again, thanks to you, it’s been a wonderful year. We’ve worked on various projects and events, and last but not least, among other things, we launched the Red Team Discord Server.

Since June 2023

Red Team Discord Server. Thanks to our battle-tested community managers @Amber_AMD and @Wally_AMD, and our mighty Volunteers' dedication, we successfully launched the Server in early July. From making new friends, and finding new partners to conducting polls and hosting our Red Team Game Nights, the server has proven to be a great new home for us. We’re looking forward to chatting with you all and continuing to use the server as the backbone for our events in 2024.

Ask Me Anything (AMA): Thanks to Discord’s capabilities, we hosted two AMAs complete with giveaways. We kicked off with our colleagues in the Radeon Software Team where we offered an insight into the software development cycle, followed by our friends at MSI covering the technical marketing aspects of motherboards’ launches. After a quick poll, we learned you enjoyed them, so we’ll be sure to do more in the future.

Red Team Community Forum: I’m sure you have noticed the new header and footer. It was one of those “behind-the-scenes” projects we worked on to ensure the community platform adheres to our brand guidelines and delivers an improved user experience. If you compare our website with the forum platform you’ll see the similarities. In addition, we beefed up our Spam Control Tool and gladly banned hundreds of spammers (and phishers) in the last six months. Lastly, we launched the new AI Discussions and Adaptive Computing blog. Be sure to check them out if you’re interested.

Contest and Sweepstakes: Our favorite. Your favorite. Everyone’s favorite! Thanks to our partners, we continued the Red Team Monthly Sweepstakes where twelve Red Team Members took home GPUs, CPUs, Motherboards, and a Radeon Pen! But wait, there’s more! We ran the Red Team Modders: Steampunk PC Case Mod Contest which resulted in a “Copper Revolution”, the best-looking mod we’ve seen. Lastly, we brought back our 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway where one lucky winner received the coveted Limited Edition Starfield Bundle featuring an AMD Ryzen™ 7 7800X3D CPU + AMD Radeon™ RX 7900 XTX GPU! I’m sure “K1DNEY_THIEF” had a very merry berry Christmas!

Partners: We are grateful to work with them. Alienware, ASUS, and MSI have supported us all year without hesitation. (Coming soon, you’ll see a special project we worked on with MSI – something cool will happen…for….one…Red Team Member). And thanks to Discord, we’ve reconnected with Sapphire, and partnered with be quiet! and Patriot Memory

AMD Volunteer Moderators: An invaluable part of our team is our volunteer moderators. They are savvy, committed, and resourceful. With their support, we were able to bring you the AMA sessions, battle spammers and phishers, post/move/delete/update discussions and critical posts, publish more How-to articles, and moderate the Forum and Discord, all the while bringing great ideas to the table. For example, Splitgate, the game we played during our last Red Team Game Night event came up during our monthly meeting. (Thanks @cpurpe91, you were right, it’s a great game, and we loved it).

Looking ahead:

New Red Team Monthly Sweepstakes: For 2024, we want to see your impressive gaming rigs, so we changed the sweepstake rules a little bit. Here is the skinny: to enter the sweeps, all you’ll have to do is post up to 6 pictures of your Battle Station in the newly launched Battle Stations discussions. That’s pretty much it. This rule will apply for the entire year. As in 2023, the winner will be selected at random.

V-LAN: We had a blast, didn’t we? We’re bringing them back in 2024. As you requested Red Team, we’re going to have them every quarter (March, June, September, and December). They will be 7 hours long, and occur on a Saturday. We will be sure to update you as we get closer to the events.

Red Team Game Nights (RTGN): We won’t be hosting game nights for a couple of reasons. 1) You prefer VLANs. 2) Team’s bandwidth. However, we are more than happy to jump on our Discord server to play a game or two with you, just let us know.

New Newsletters News! (pun intended): You can expect a slimmer, yet richer newsletter in 2024. After looking at data, and a few meetings, Wally and I decided to revamp our Newsletter from the ground up. You can subscribe here

Polls and Surveys: There will be only two surveys next year and fewer polls. This is what you’ve asked us to do, and since we are all about “For the Community, By the Community” we’ll do just that. A special “Thank You” to those of you who took the time to respond to our questions. And please be ready to share your feedback in 2024.

2023 was fun! We saw some amazing gaming rigs, we played (laughed, yelled, cried, and cheered) in VLANs and the Red Team Game Nights, we found a new home on Discord, and we shared great stories. Most of all, we made new friends!

BUILD. PLAY. SHARE!
