Radeon ProRender is a powerful physically-based rendering engine that helps enable designers and engineers to produce stunningly photorealistic renderings of their creations.

Radeon ProRender is built on highly efficient, high-performance Radeon Rays technology and unlike some other renderers, it can balance the compute capabilities of multiple GPUs and CPUs on the same system and is built on OpenCL™ to deliver state-of-the-art GPU acceleration to produce rapid, accurate results.

Radeon ProRender provides a simple-to-use, deeply integrated application experience, with an extensive, beautiful material library — all with no licensing costs from AMD, and now we’re taking it to the next level.

At today’s Develop3D LIVE event, we are announcing our new Radeon ProRender Game Engine Importer, currently in pre-alpha, that is designed to help allow for effortless game engine advanced visualization with the power of Radeon Pro GPUs and Radeon ProRender.

Updated Radeon ProRender SOLIDWORKS Add-in Beta

Last year we released our first Radeon ProRender SOLIDWORKS® beta, that supported the 2016 version of Dassault Systèmes’ 3D CAD solution. Today we are pleased to announce that we are kicking off the closed beta release of an updated version of this add-in that supports SOLIDWORKS 2017.

Sporting the same ease of use as its siblings for Autodesk® 3ds Max® and Autodesk® Maya®, Radeon ProRender for SOLIDWORKS is a physically accurate renderer you can use to give your models and designs that extra little pop of render realism.

Fully integrated into SOLIDWORKS 2017, it supports real-time changes to your scene and built-in rendering information, and will even work during an animation. Utilizing native lights and materials, it is designed to generate precise renders of your geometry.

Key Features

  • Fully integrated – for use with SOLIDWORKS 2016 and higher.
  • Fast and accurate – it’s designed to be physically accurate, lightning fast and easy to use.
  • Hardware agnostic – if your computer can run OpenCL™ 1.2, it should also be able to run Radeon ProRender.
  • Viewport Integration means you can work with Radeon ProRender in real time, so you can see your changes as you make them.
  • Tone Mapping support: simple, linear, non-linear, white balance, color temperature, and gamma correction.
  • Shading system integrated with SolidWorks Appearances and lighting system integrated with SolidWorks Lights.
  • SOLIDWORKS appearances are translated to the comparable Radeon ProRender physically-based materials.
  • Physically correct materials and lighting allow you to make true design decisions with global illumination.
  • Emissive and Photometric Lighting, as well as lights from HDRI environments, let you blend a scene in with its surroundings.
  • Interactive viewport camera views with depth of field support and orbit mode to move the camera view around the object through the render window.

Game Engine Visualization in VR with the Radeon ProRender Game Engine Importer

Game engines are revolutionizing professional workflows, allowing designers and engineers to visualize and interact with their creations in ways never before imagined, including in virtual reality, accelerating real-time design decisions.

One of the biggest challenges though for CAD users is importing their work into a game engine with as few mouse clicks as possible for advanced visualization. We have a solution and have worked with Epic Games to create our Radeon ProRender Game Engine Importer, which we first previewed the pre-alpha of at SOLIDWORKS World 2017. The tool allows you to easily import your geometry and materials using Radeon ProRender from applications such as SOLIDWORKS right into Unreal Engine and view them in VR.

We are excited to announce that along with opening applications for our SOLIDWORKS Add-in beta, we will also be giving a select few testers access to the Radeon ProRender Game Engine Importer pre-alpha. When applying below, if you wish to be considered to test this solution please ensure you checkmark which VR headset you own.
