Why PPT stucked at 65W

Hi,

I got a Clevo laptop with a desktop cpu R5 5600.  It works well but the fan noise is a bit high. I ever locked the PPT in Ryzen Master from 45w~65w to reduce the tempture. About one week ago, I changed cpu to R9 3900x , 12 cores, TDP 105W. And found that PPT was stucked in 65W, it can be changed in Ryzen Master. Once restart the laptop it goes back to 65W. I tried to change PPT and TDC in the Bios, but it doesn't work. Even uninstall the RM and delete the items related to it in regedit the PPT still been locked an 65W.

Anybody know how to unlock the PPT limit?

Did you check with clevo support on cpu upgrade paths, any bios update needed?

Also did you revert/reset changes in RM before swapping cpu.

Thanks for your kindly reply.

Yes, I checked the user maunual that the 3900x is in the supported cpu list of NH55 modle. And it works well after I change the cpu, ever try to modify the PPT to 142w.

Before swaping cpu I also use RM to reduce fan noise, the PPT limit was 45~65W and didn't rest it before change cpu. Just fell confused where the parameters been stored.

You could try uninstalling RM, then remove CMOS battery (for a couple of minutes) to reset bios.

See if that brings up 105W option in bios.

Thanks, Ok I will have a try. Hope  can solve this problem without removing the cpu from the socket.
