I build an configuration with ryzen 5 3400G and Asus Prime B450m Gaming-BR motherboard, i tried everything to fix this problem, but no one worked. I try to update my Bios, drivers, the windows is in the latest version. I try to config my motherboard to unable Global C-state control in AMD CBS BIOS option, but nothing works. The problem occurs when processor go to 100% usage and down to 1% for example, or when i navigate in google chrome, basically the windows crash randomly, and i can't close nothing. How can i fix this problem?
My configs:
- Ryzen 5 3400G
- 2x8GB Corsair Vegance DDR4 2666Mhz
- Asus Prime B450m Gaming-BR(Motherboard)
- EVGA PSU 750W 80 PLUS GOLD
-SSD Kingston 250GB
-HD 2TB Barracuda
What exact errors are you getting when it crashes?
Also check Device Manager for any errors or Yellow Exclamation marks.
Also do you have the latest versions of BIOS/UEFI and CHIPSET Installed?
The windows freeze, i can't use the computer without reset it brutally, i don't know when it crashes, i make some tests, and normally when i use very much the processor or use the computer for a long time it simply crash, i don't see any Yellow Marks in Device Manager.I have the latest version of BIOS/UEFI and i already installed AMD chipset driver for B450m in AMD website: https://www.amd.com/pt/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b450. But its not work.
What does Device Manager show?
Also run DXDIAG.exe and upload the file to this post. This useful to see what files or programs are having problems.
If you have any dump files in C:\Windows or C:\Minidump upload those also to see if it indicates what is causing your computer to crash.
Here is your Ryzen 5 3400g latest AMD APU Driver for your processor: https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-5-desktop-processors-radeon-vega-g...
In case the latest has problems try installing AMD Previous drivers from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/previous-drivers/apu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-5-desktop-process...
Also make sure your Windows 10 is fully updated via Windows Update. This is required for the latest AMD Drivers to work correctly.
Also check your GPU and CPU temperatures. That can cause your computer to crash.
Also check Windows Event Viewer to see what "Critical" and "Errors" shows.
When i try to check Windows Event Viewer, windows freeze and i need to reboot the computer, but from what i could see, the only errors that shown is about when i rebooted the computer brutally.
CPU and GPU temperatures is okay, CPU is about 50ºC and GPU is about 65ºC
Device manager show that's all right apparently. Directxdiag don't show me any problem, Windows 10 is updated, i found a directx.txt in C:\Windows, i don't know what extention could be have a dump file, but here directx.txt:

Here is how to generate a DXDIAG.TXT file:
Upload and attach the file to your next reply. It will show up as DXDIAG.TXT.ZIP.
That is the file I need to look at. In the last category of that file is called "Diagnostics" which shows all files or programs that are having problems in your computer. You can "ATTACH" the file to your next reply.
Does Device Manager show any errors or yellow exclamation marks?
What does Windows Event Viewer show under "Errors" and "Critical"?
Any Windows Dumps generated when the computer crashes?
If your computer crashes just trying to access Windows Event Viewer it may indicate a corrupt Windows installation.
Run this from a elevated Command Prompt: sfc /scannow
See if it comes back with any errors. If it comes back with errors than in the same elevated Command Prompt run this command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Then rerun SFC /scannow again and see if it comes back with no errors.
Seems like many Users are having issues with the 400 series boards and 3rd generation processors.
i could not find this option attach to post, but i will post the .txt file generated here:
Note: Some words is in portuguese, i don't know if it's a problem to you, but if you don't understand, you can copy and paste to google translate.
Note2: I could attach file after click to edit the post
i make sfc /scannow in cmd but it says that no problems found.
I couldn't translate your Diagnostic part of DXDIAG but it shows Explorer.exe, PES2019, Skype App, and mainly LiveKernelEvent errors.
Try installing the latest AMD Driver for your APU from the link in my previous reply.
Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode with the internet disconnected. After rebooting once DDU finished removing the current AMD graphics driver, with the internet still disconnected, install the latest downloaded AMD Driver from the link I gave in my previous reply. Once the driver is installed, reconnect the Internet and see if it helps any.
If not I suggest you open a AMD SERVICE REQUEST from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/contact-email-form
Also open a Asus Support ticket or go to Asus Support for your motherboard and open a 'Chat' with them and see what they recommend.
Asus doesn't have a QVL list for RAM MEMORY for the 3rd generation processors at Asus Brazilian Support site. but at Asus Support in the USA it does have a QVL List for RAM MEMORY for 3rd generation processors.
I have attached the QVL List to this post. Check to see if your RAM MEMORY is listed or not. This list seems to apply to all B450M motherboards. TUF B450M-PLUS GAMING Memory / Device Support | Motherboards | ASUS USA
1) No device manager don't show me any yellow marks
2) Windows Event Viewer only show me Errors that when i rebooted my computer brutally, nothing else.
3) I don't see any dumps from windows
Thanks. It may be something is not compatible with your motherboard or ryzen or some hardware is failing or corrupt AMD Driver.
When you have a chance, run MEMTEST86 for about 3-4 runs and see if it comes back with any errors. Good RAM MEMORY will show ZERO errors. The Ram may still be incompatible but will physically check to see if the RAM itself is good.
Otherwise I would open Support tickets to both Asus and AMD and see what they suggest.
I see now, my memory have the code CMK16GX4M2A2666C16, and it's not listed in this pdf that you atached. To be frank i cannot found any of these memories selling in brazil haha, it's like a joke what these companies do to costumers. But thank you for your reply.
Have a live Asus "CHAT" and ask them if that particular RAM MEMORY is compatible with 3rd generation processors.
Or open a Asus Support ticket via email and see what they say.
What is weird, I went to the Asus Brazilian Support site for your motherboard and it doesn't even show the QVL List for 3rd generation RAM MEMORY: PRIME B450M-GAMING/BR Memory / Device Support | Placas-mãe | ASUS Brasil
I can't contact them, when i type the serial number, it says that's invalid :/
Who were you trying to contact and what serial number was needed? Motherboard or RAM?
It is hard to say. I am just trying to eliminate RAM MEMORY being incompatible or not fully compatible with your Rzyen processor.
Have you tried installing the latest Ryzen AMD Driver for your APU and see if it makes any difference using DDU?
I was trying to contact Asus, my serial is K7M0HL000576JTY, but it's not valid serial according to Asus Website
Which Asus support did you try? the USA or Brazilian Support?
If you tried the USA ASUS Support then try with the Brazilian ASUS Support since that is a Brazilian Asus motherboard.
I read that the motherboard should have a sticker on it:
Make sure you copied it correctly. Sometimes Number "0" looks like the letter "o" and vice versa. or Number "1" look like the letter "l".
I tried Brazillian support, and yes i checked the sticker correctly, i can attach an image if you like to see it.
No need to. Just letting you know because that happened to me once on a hardware I was registering at a Support site. I mistook the letter O for a the number 0.
You are correct. That is the correct serial number. I inputted your Asus Motherboard S/N at Asus Warranty site and it came up to be good: Official Support | ASUS USA
Just because it isn't listed doesn't mean it isn't compatible to your motherboard.
There are two reasons why the RAM may not be listed:
1- Asus tested the RAM Memory and found it not compatible thus not listed
2- Asus DIDN"T TEST the RAM Memory thus it is not listed.
So you have a 50/50 chance the RAM may be compatible. Best to ask Asus and see what they say.
But if it's compatible, i shouldn't have any of these problems, isn't it?
I recently got the same Processor and Motherboard as you and had the same problems as well. The only "workaround" I've found so far is to deactivate the Clock Boost feature in the BIOS.
Enter the BIOS then press F7 and go under Advanced > AMD CBS > and set Core/Clock Boost to Disabled.
I did it but it's not worked, even after i updated the bios, even so thank you.
You'll also need to check the CPU Core Ratio under the Ai Tweaker settings, set it to Auto if there's anything else there.
I have the same issue with almost the same setup and that did not solve my issue. One thing to note, when the freezing happens my network connection will become disabled. If I'm playing a video from Youtube it will continue playing until the buffer runs out but the keyboard/mouse do not respond and my only option is to reboot the computer by physically pressing reset.
Justo me pasa ese problema. espero puedas resolverlo.
Esta es la configuración del equipo:
- Ryzen 5 3400G
- 2x8GB XPG GAMIX D10DDR4 2666 MHZ
- ASUS TUF B450M-PLUS GAMING 4DDR4 AM4 HDMI DVI PS/2
I have the exact same issue, my screen freezes and sometimes restarts randomly. I have already tried with other RAM's. I tried with different SO's and SSD's.
Ryzen 3 3200g
Original RAM Spectrix D60G 3200mhz
Asus B450m-a ready for amd version
EVGA 650W Bronze
SSD Kingston 250GB
Actualiza la BIOS a la última versión, desinstala los controladores por default de Windows y solamente instala los propios de ryzen de su página, no otros.
Suerte
I have the same problem too, same processor and motherboard,
and it happens in windows and linux more than anything
when I run multi-threaded processes
the same problem any solution? I will never buy asus or ryzen again
Greetings,
the solution I found was the following:
install BIOS update 2202,
remove the battery from the motherboard for at least 10 seconds and install again, review the setup and save the changes.
sometimes something as simple as that makes a difference.
my configuration is ASUS PRIME B450M-A / CSM MOTHERBOARD,
Ryzen 3400G,
32GB RAM DDR4 XPG 3000MHZ
