Windows 11 device manager AMD special tools !

Hi Everyone

just noticed that the device manager has a yellow exclamation point next to AMD special tools driver.  Does anyone have a clue where I can get the right driver for this?  I have an older Ryzen Threadripper processor model 2970WX but I can’t seem to figure out where to get this updated driver.

Thanks to any brilliant person who knows the answer!

Much appreciated

Hi,

Updating the driver for the processor did cause the exclamation point to go away so I just uninstalled that feature.  This doesn't seem to have any adverse effects on the overall operation of the computer so I guess everything is ok.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

Take care

In Device Manager what is the Error code showing for the yellow exclamation in that specific driver?

Try uninstalling via Device Manager and rebooting the PC and see if Device Manager installs it without error again.

Not sure if that driver is installed by AMD CHIPSET PACKAGE or AMD GRAPHIC PACKAGE.

Downloaded AMD CHIPSET PACKAGE For your ThreadRipper processor and I didn't see anything related to that specific driver in the Info.XML File.

Try using AMD Auto-Detect and Install Tool (https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-131) which suppose to install any AMD Drivers that are needed. I would use it after uninstalling the current problematic driver then running the tool.

The AMD Auto-Detect and Install Tool is generally located in the AMD Graphics Driver download section such as this one: https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/amd-radeon-6000-series/amd-radeon-6700-series/amd-radeon-rx-...

Seeing a yellow exclamation point next to the AMD special tools driver in Device Manager can indicate a driver issue. For your older Ryzen Threadripper processor model 2970WX, it's crucial to get the correct and updated driver. Head over to the official AMD website (amd.com) and navigate to the Drivers & Support section. Here, you can enter your specific processor model or use the auto-detect tool to ensure you're getting the right driver for your system. Download and install the latest driver version available for your processor. If you encounter any difficulties or if the problem persists, consider reaching out to AMD support for assistance. They may provide specific guidance based on your processor model and the issues you're facing.
